Cambodia's Prime Minister Hun Manet has set forth ambitious objectives for the Royal Government of Cambodia, with a strong focus on promoting tourism, particularly in Siem Reap. In his speech during the opening ceremony of the 8th River Festival in Siem Reap Province, the premier highlighted the year 2024 as a significant time for Visit Siem Reap. The Royal Government has launched the "Visit Siem Reap 2024" campaign, which coincides with the year of people-to-people exchanges between Cambodia and China. Additionally, it will be the inaugural Cambodia-India Tourism Year, all with the goal of attracting more tourists to Cambodia and specifically to the charming city of Siem Reap. With the recent inauguration of Siem Reap Angkor International Airport, the tourism potential in Siem Reap has significantly increased, providing a new opportunity for growth and development. The Royal Government of Cambodia recognizes tourism as a priority sector that plays a crucial role in the country's socio-economic development. Tourism not only creates job opportunities and boosts income for citizens but also enhances on-spot exports, sustains economic growth, and increases national revenue. Moreover, it plays a vital role in the preservation of our rich cultural heritage and responsible management of natural resources. In line with UNESCO requirements, Prime Minister Hun Manet also emphasized the importance of relocating people from the Angkor resort area to preserve the global value of Angkor, which has been declared a World Heritage site. To facilitate this, a sub-decree has been issued to establish Runa Ek Techo Sen, aimed at developing Runa Ek into a beautiful city of Siem Reap, ensuring convenience for its people. The efforts and initiatives undertaken by the Royal Government are already showing promising results. According to the Department of Tourism's report, Siem Reap province has witnessed a remarkable increase in the number of tourists, with 537,350 visitors recorded from January to February 2024. This represents a significant increase of 62.69% compared to the same period in 2023. Let us join hands in supporting the "Visit Siem Reap 2024" campaign. Together, we can contribute to the growth and prosperity of Siem Reap, while also experiencing the rich history, breathtaking landscapes, and warm hospitality that this remarkable destination has to offer. #VisitSiemReap2024 #CambodiaTourism #SiemReap
