One of the biggest challenges in EVP and Employer Brand is ensuring you have a differentiated position from your talent competitors....🤔 Especially if you are in a big industry like retail, hospitality, engineering or healthcare.... And the only sure fire way to find a differentiated space to play in, is to know where your talent competitors are and ensure you dial up what is different about you. But finding out what your talent competitors are up to is hard work. It can take hours or days of desktop research. Which is why I like reports like The Sunday Times best places to work report. I know industry awards can be a bit marmite....  (we love it or hate it for the non-UK peeps reading this) There will always be people who get caught up in dismissing the results because they disagree with the methodology or the eligibility criteria.... But for me it is less about who actually wins.....or loses.... and more about using them as a fast track 'showcase' to seeing what other organisations offer. If then, I want to know more about a brand, I dive into desktop research or put GAI to task. It's a starting point to save a bit of time in the often overstretched world of #employerbranding 🕰️ If nothing else. I recommend taking a look at the Spotlight awards that showcase employers who are striding forwards in meeting specific needs like wellbeing and in different demographic groups like ethnic minorities, women, LGBTQIA+, disabled employees and over 55s. Much is said and made of growing your own talent.
