Trust is at a premium these days, and being seen as an expert is the surest way to get there. But the proof of expertise has changed. It used to be about third-party certifications: A bachelor's, master's, or PhD from a prestigious school. A certification program from an association or big tech/corporate Title at a certain company for a certain number of years Proof of expertise gatekeepers are becoming obsolete. NOW, you have the power to unlock your own expertise and build your own proof: PM Companies: Would you rather hire a house-hacker or someone looking for their 3rd PM job? Real Estate Developers: Would you rather hire a house flipper or a recently graduated finance major? Prop-tech SaaS: Would you rather hire someone with a GitHub portfolio or a computer science grad? Expertise has become a “don’t tell me, show me” game… and there’s an old shortcut for this. I call it the “guilty by association” effect… and it’s never been easier to leverage- THE EFFECT: When your market sees you next to people they admire, they automatically assume you share similar qualities. EXAMPLE: bring back the Ed Sheeran story This video is my keynote at NARPM where I tell the Broker/Owner audience how it first drove business results for me. TLDR: Took the place of my CEO on a panel last minute. Shared the stage with the head of Latin America for Cisco Systems and the head of the smart cities initiative at the World Bank. A line formed to talk to me with people who usually wouldn’t give me the time of day. Realized I could engineer these moments to sell multimillion-dollar projects by hosting small events. Since then, I’ve adapted a formula that can scale it much quicker today. HOW YOU CAN USE IT: You started when your founder found something particularly painful about property management, didn’t need to be that way. Your founder isn’t an industry expert but an expert in the problem. No one knows them well enough to trust them. You have difficulty getting to decision-makers and convincing them. HOW TO SOLVE IT Start a podcast where you interview industry experts. Use the interview to understand their expertise and vet the problem you're solving. Repurpose clips of your founder and the expert agreeing on this problem to share on social media, and give clips to the expert. Develop relationships with 2-3 of these experts so you can host them as a panel at your next in-person event. Record and repurpose that panel at high production quality. BOOM. Your founder now has proof of expertise through social validation. They’re now more likely to: • land speaking slots at conferences. • book meetings with decision makers. • help your sales team gain a prospects’ trust Rinse, repeat, and let the “guilty by association” effect compound. Soon you’re landing the type of clients that you couldn’t get a meeting with 6 months ago.

Hey reader, this post contains 2 things - a brain dump, and a request for help. Thing the first - My first week at Forbidden complete! In a week where traditionally it's a bit overwhelming with new things to learn and information overload, it's good to reflect. So here's that brain dump. 🤕 My 4-year old girl broke her foot on my first day and spent the evening in A&E. I've worked places where I would immediately be hit with the #WorkingParentPanic. Not so here. I've been able to be a real dad, support her (read: spoil her) as well as as be effective at my job. Proof it's possible! 🫶 Super satisfying to have already started work on some of my client accounts. Not that i've been unleashed on anything overly complex yet, but am grateful to be trusted in a number of client portals and have been able to hit the ground running. 🤓 I've got a new Partner Cert and Platinum Tier contributor badge! While all my certs haven't yet transferred over, I've still started on some new Partner certs, preparing for accreditation next year. You might see me lurking the #HubSpotCommunity forums too! Thing the second - I'm looking at strategies to grow my own LinkedIn following, as well as the company page. I have so many amazing Marketing contacts on here, so.... - Anyone got any ideas and/or tips? - What do you want to see me posting about? - Please can you follow the Forbidden page please! (I know, it's a little inactive at the moment but that will change) - Also follow me! #HubSpot #Partner

Here's my 2024 LinkedIn Rewind, by Coauthor: In 2024, I leveraged my strengths as an "extravert in software" to build understanding at every level while maintaining high standards. I led development on a project with an international team, keeping in mind that technical excellence and human connection aren't opposing forces - they're multiplicative. Key technical milestones: • Established AWS architecture for multi-environment deployment • Built end-to-end automation suite reaching 65%+ coverage on legacy code • Led development of charting and reporting SaaS platform at LumaCyte • Maintained 90%+ test coverage standard on all new code Two posts that sparked meaningful discussions: "Navigating Dream Job Applications" On the importance of personal connection in job search "My personal preference would be the personal touch over just sending my resume into the shredder" https://lnkd.in/g7TKNhdJ "Understanding Referral Processes" On demystifying practical mechanics of referrals "How does it actually work in practice? Feels like one of those things everyone talks about doing but nobody really knows." https://lnkd.in/gygixwjZ Looking ahead to 2025: Continuing to advocate for clean code and test automation while helping bridge the gap between technical excellence and human understanding. Because great software isn't just about passing tests - it's just as much about the people who build it as those who use it. To every developer trying to balance technical depth with human connection: Your ability to explain complex concepts clearly isn't just a nice-to-have - it's a superpower. Use it. -- Get your 2024 LinkedIn Rewind! Go to coauthor [dot] studio in your browser

First of the Month! 👉 don't forget to use the 250 credits LinkedIn provides your Company Page. 👉 invite up to 250 of your 1st-degree connections, filter by Location and other metrics. 👉 you will get the credit back if they accept, to be used again (amazing) 👉 any page admin can invite their network, but the credits are shared across Admins. 👉 the credits DO NOT roll over, but they refresh monthly. You have all month to use them. 👉 roughly a 10-20% acceptance rate. (historically seen) Note: I suggest you invite them in chunks. 50 - 100 people at a time, I have had issues when inviting all 250 in a single attempt.
