"Drink your tea slowly and reverently, as if it is the axis on which the earth revolves." Thich Nhat Hanh Wow. And suddenly, it's fall. If you eat/exercise/live with the seasons, you'll notice a switch flipping. Suddenly, you might notice that cold salads aren't appealing. You might be more inclined to hibernate than exercise. You'll notice other tendencies to turn inward. It's all natural! I'm not a fan of iced drinks even in summer. And in the fall, I really notice the day when I think, "Nah, no water for me. I want hot tea." Besides keeping us warm, hot tea and tisanes can keep us hydrated and even boost our health and immunity and overall wellness during the winter. All with a smaller (or nonexistent) caffeine jolt than coffee. And I've recently discovered two new companies to shout about: Happy Lucky's Teahouse in Colorado and Teamotions out of California have now joined Cacao Tea Company and Free Verse Farm in my daily tea rotation. Wondering why you grab another coffee in the PM or have ravenous cravings post 8pm?? You lack substance mid-day. You might start off well with a decent breakfast, but as the work day kicks in, you may often skip lunch and go without any “food” until clocking off for the day. Your lunch (or lack thereof) is probably catching up on emails with a side order of cookies from the office breakroom. The protein shake + a bar option below 👇 is far from perfect but 1000X better than eating nothing or grabbing leftover muffins from the social club. The goal is to not go long periods without some quality nutrient-dense food in your system. You need some substance to keep your energy and mental focus high to crush the afternoons. But to also control those nasty cravings that you inevitably cave in most days while you are making supper or graze during your downtime in the evenings. I personally find a shake + bar super convenient and will pack a high protein and energy punch. (All gas stations will carry various brands so there is no excuses). If you didn’t bring a packed lunch or have the time to grab a healthy lunch at a restaurant, pick up cases of these at Costco and keep handy in your office/vehcile/home to grab and GO.
