When you launch a portfolio company out of a Studio that has enough seed capital to get it to the next milestone and the CEO hits you up for money out of the blue because they went through it all... Sorry CEO, that's on you! If you need more money, you need to go out and raise it. We/the Studio can help you, but that's part of the job and one that was disclosed to you upfront. This seems to happen more in co-founder studios versus builder studios as the co-founder studio puts the Founder in the CEO role from the get go and not the best CEO for the job at it's current stage.

What's the difference between investing in a Startup Studio at the Hold Co level and being a limited partner in a fund? Studios create value. Funds buy value. Studios are directly involved in operations. Funds are passive. Studios control portfolio companies cap tables. Funds are just another entry. Studios pay dividends on profits. Funds typically do not unless there's an exit. Studios pay executive salaries. Funds pay 2 & 20. Studios are evergreen. Most funds are 10 years. Studio Investors own the whole portfolio. Funds only own the portfolio of companies that it invested in.

Anyone else fall into this trap? Brewd is a new(ish) business, but I’ve run studios before. So I keep obsessing about scaling up - basically getting ahead of myself! I’m definitely spending too much time on things that aren’t immediately relevant. And I’m coming at projects, problems, and challenges (everything really) as if I have a studio already. That’s definitely the goal, but I’m not there yet! I can’t help but want to set things up with that growth in mind. Other founders, I’d love to know how you keep yourself in check. #AgencyOwner #BusinessOwner #BrandingAgency

Why do so many VCs despise the studio model? Jake Hurwitz asked me this an episode of The Gallery. Hint - its personal. The studio model does create several potential red flags that investors search for to quickly say no to an investment. The founders don't own, 40%, 50%, or 60% of the company. [Even if at an individual level, founders own more equity] The studio is dead equity on the cap table. [Even though all previous investors are effectively dead equity] The studio is not deeply involved after the company spins out. [Quite true, most studios are not deeply involved post spinout] Any of these are great quick red flag reasons to pass without looking deeper. But to despise. That is an emotional response. A bit of jealously perhaps or outrage at not playing the game by the same rules? What do you think?

After over a year of crafting this website and over two years of refining 328 Studios, we've reached the finish line. I'm thrilled for the future and the new direction. In semantic versioning, this would be considered a major change, so the new name is now 329 Studios. We are a branding and design studio for the audacious and ambitious. We collaborate with solopreneurs, small businesses, and nonprofits to create compelling brands that resonate through design, code, and strategy. Whether you're a trailblazing future CEO building your empire, an audacious side hustler on the rise, or a bold dreamer with big ideas, we partner with you to craft a brand that captures your audience. Going beyond the visual aesthetics, we forge brands that get you, connect with your audience, and tell your story. So when you launch that business, start that movement, or share your voice with the world, we're here for the creators, innovators, and disruptors like you. https://328studios.co/ #fortheaudaciousandambitious #creativityawaits #branding #branddevelopment #digitalmarketing #smallbusiness #businessowners #entrepreneurship #smallbiz
