The high five 🖐 is NOT as old as you might think.
It dates back to a very specific moment in 1977...
It was born from an unscripted moment of joy between baseball players Dusty Baker and Glenn Burke of the Los Angeles Dodgers.
As Baker rounded the bases after hitting a home run that secured his place in baseball history, Burke, waiting at home plate, lifted his hand, and the first-ever high five was born.
No planning, no forethought, just pure, spontaneous celebration.
This iconic gesture didn't emerge from a marketing brainstorm or a cultural strategy session; it was a genuine, instinctual moment between two individuals.
From that single unplanned gesture, an entirely new way for humans to connect was created❗
Impulsive ideas can lead to some of the most memorable outcomes...
Spontaneous creativity can forge new paths, create new symbols, and even change the way we express joy and solidarity.
Spontaneous creation thrives in environments that support and celebrate it—where taking risks is not just accepted but encouraged.
The best things in life—and at work—are unplanned.
Plan for that.

This is the moment I witnessed my husband meet one of his childhood heroes, 3x Super Bowl Champion, Jerry Rice. Three insights from this interaction:
1. Don’t let the opportunity slip away
It can be uncomfortable to push yourself out of your comfort zone and approach someone you don’t know. When a rare opportunity presents itself though, it’s up to us to seize it. I know my husband would have regretted not saying hello. What opportunity is presenting itself to you and what would be your path of least regret?
2. Make the moment meaningful
We could have just said hello, asked for the photo, and walked away. Jerry could have just said hello, obliged a photo, and walked away. Instead, I watched my husband share what it was like for him to watch Super Bowl XXIII and observed Jerry engage with him about his own memories of that win, and it was next-level special. Both took the time to be fully present and make the interaction memorable. What magic could be created if we connected with people like this more often?
3. Inspiration lives in the smallest of moments
Jerry shared a great story about the minutes leading up to the 49ers win of Super Bowl XXIII. They were trailing the Bengals with only minutes left in the game and had every reason to be stressed and overwhelmed by the pressure. In that moment, however, Joe Montana glanced into the audience, spotted an actor, and was like “Isn’t that John Candy?” Jerry went on to share that Joe’s calmness in that moment was his way of saying “I got this.” Of saying, “We got this.” In the final minutes of the game, Joe went on to lead the 49ers to their third Super Bowl title. It can be demotivating when you’re fighting against the odds, but just imagine, what might your team achieve if they are led with calmness and confidence?
Which of these resonate the most with you?

New Blog - Who are You? Who Do You Want to Be?
Remembering our heroes is one way we can get back to focusing on the type of person we want to be. When you look at your heroes, how are you living your life in comparison to them? This is not about shaming anyone. This is a moment when we can all pause and reflect on who we are now and who we want to be.

As we celebrate the legendary Jesse Owens on his birthday, it's important to reflect on the incredible lessons he taught us about perseverance, grit, and focus. Owens didn't just win four gold medals at the 1936 Olympics—he defied the odds, broke barriers, and showed the world what determination truly looks like.
In sales, we face challenges every day. Some are seen, others are not, but the key to success lies in our ability to push through, adapt, and keep our eyes on the finish line. Whether you're closing a deal, building a relationship, or leading a team—take inspiration from Owens' journey. Achievements don't happen overnight, but with consistent effort and belief, you’ll find yourself standing on your own podium.
💡 Lesson for today: Never let obstacles stop you. Let them fuel your determination to succeed.

🏀 End of an Era & Embracing Change 💼
It was the final time Steph Curry and Klay Thompson splashed together. Basketball brothers no more, with Thompson leaving a partnership that produced four championships with the Warriors. He’s now in Dallas, joining the Mavericks, escaping a recent Warriors past that frustrated him. It's hard when someone leaves the team.
Life is all about change, especially in the workplace. Having a best work friend (BWF) boosts job satisfaction and productivity, but it’s inevitable one will leave. This departure impacts both emotionally and professionally. Adjusting means navigating emotions and adapting to new dynamics, turning this change into an opportunity for growth. As they move on, consider what this means for everyone’s growth.
