In an effort to hold myself accountable with my weekly goals, I thought I'd share them here! I encourage you to share yours as well and we can hold each other accountable 👀 Here are my goals for the week. I anticipate some other work coming in, but this is what I'm planning for in the meantime: - Finish editing client script and send scratch sample - Share my new video game demo with my agents, update on website and #Voquent - Finish compiling leads list from #XPGameSummit / following up with leads - Tidy up office/workspace - Record 3 more chaps for audiobook and edit. What are your goals for this week? How do you hold yourself accountable? 🤔

Audiobook Tip: 🎙️ Record a good 30 seconds of room tone (Natural complete silence in your workspace) before recording. ✂️ After you have this, Clip out your frequently used segment durations into the clip board of your DAW (Digital Audio Workstation) For example, I use about 2 - 3 seconds of room tone after chapter announcements and about the same between main idea transitions during a chapter. (Bonus Tip: Using purposeful pauses during these times gives the listener a subtle cue that we are transitioning to a new idea vs just plowing into the next subject. 🤣) 💡Having these clips ready to go during editing makes things very efficient.

The Biggest Productivity Hack... Play video and audio content at a faster speed. Playback speed is an easy setting to overlook, but it's the key to stealing more time for yourself. It takes a little bit to get used to at first. Hearing someone's voice talking at a faster pace. Worrying you'll miss something they say. If you're hesitant to speed up a recording, try bumping it up by one tick. Once you've gotten used to hearing someone's voice at 1.25x speed, 1.5 will become a lot more manageable. The average audiobook is 11 hours long. Speeding up the recording to just 1.25x speed gives you an extra two hours. Imagine all the work you could get done when that time accumulates for a week... I've just finished this audiobook. 😃 Here are some thoughts -- they're not coherent enough to be considered a proper review, rather they're just my immediate reactions. If you'd asked me at the start what star rating I thought I'd be giving, I'd have said 4 stars. Enjoyed the premise and the setup had me gripped. By the middle, I was thinking 3. But now I'm at the end, it's back up to four. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ There's an opinion-dividing chapter that shifts to 2nd person, and on reflection, it jarred me in a positive way. It jumped-started what I thought was a bit of a flabby middle. I love the image on the book cover. It's perfect. And I think the book hits you in waves. The final act gathers pace perfectly. 😍 An interesting novel. I need to see the hard copy because I'm keen to see how the POV was handled in terms of style and formatting choices. I think I'd have preferred a 3rd person limited dual POV, tbh, but there's obviously a reason for the omniscience, and I want to think about that some more. It's a book about people (friendships, coming-of-age, talent, ego, relationships, etc.) more than it is a book about gaming, but if you enjoy gaming references, that surely makes it more of a treat. ⭐⭐⭐⭐ #AmReading ❓What have you been reading this weekend?
