The Skills Gap: The Stats Don’t Lie! Since the pandemic, there has been a significant increase in the need for upskilling and training workforces. Forbes recently called the skills gap “the biggest threat” to the future of workforces. It’s not just employees that are being affected by this gap, employers have also noticed and have stated that the situation is only getting worse! 🌎 By 2030, it is estimated that there will be an $8.5tn skills gap globally 💼 Since 2015, skill sets for jobs have changed by around 25% 👨💼 77% of workers are ‘ready to learn’ but only 34% feel supported by their organization’s skills development opportunities ⏳ 82% of employees and 62% of HR directors said they believe that workers will need to reskill or upskill at least once a year to maintain a competitive advantage in a global job market These stats highlight the urgent need for L&D within the workplace in order to create an advantage over competitors and maintain success within the organization. This cries out for a comprehensive analysis of what infrastructure is out there to support upskilling, and how can we build its optimization? I keep seeing this claim, but without that infrastructure, passing the buck for skill development onto individual employees is going to be futile. It is not an employee-level problem, so it needs a different level of solution.
