President & Founder, The Brand is Female; Award-winning CMO turned entrepreneur; Board Member; Speaker
Ladies, let’s make 2024 a landmark year for your PERSONAL BRANDS. If you’re a woman entrepreneur or a professional in the business world, investing in #thoughtleadership to build your influence and community is not just impactful—it’s essential. I was thrilled to join the #TechnoChic roundtable last night at CEIM (Centre d’entreprise et d’innovation de Montréal) where I shared my knowledge about Thought Leadership and Personal Branding with a group of uber-impressive female tech founders. Thank you Selwa Rafi, Ph.D for the invitation! Why is thought leadership ESPECIALLY relevant for #WomenInTech? 🗣️Thought leadership provides a platform for women in tech to share their unique perspectives and insights. It’s more than just sharing expertise; it’s about amplifying voices that are often underrepresented in tech conversations. 📖 Storytelling has the power to connect, inspire, and educate. By weaving personal experiences with professional insights, women in tech can create compelling narratives that resonate with audiences, creating a deeper understanding and appreciation of their journey and expertise. BTW, this is what will make you stand out in pitches to potential clients and investors too. 👩💻Establishing oneself as a thought leader helps in building credibility. This is particularly vital for women entrepreneurs who face unique challenges in the tech industry. Thought leadership can help in breaking stereotypes and changing perceptions. 🫶Through thought leadership, women in tech can open doors to new opportunities - be it collaborations, partnerships, or mentorship. It’s a way to network and grow, not just as individuals, but as a community. 👣 Lastly, thought leadership is about setting an example for the next generation of women in tech. It’s about showing that their voices matter and that they too can lead and innovate in this dynamic field. #Leadership #WomenInBusiness #WomenEntrepreneurs #Marketing #PersonalBranding

“Pride competes. Purpose collaborates.” 🌟 Embracing this mantra has transformed how I approach every area of my life! 💪As a Director of Software Engineering, I’m committed to fostering collaboration with among leading women in tech and my colleagues (Stacy Devino, Lori Crew, Amy Czuchlewski). This isn’t just about getting ahead, it’s about lifting each other up. 🚀As the Founder of DevelopHer, I channel my energy into creating opportunities that empower others. It’s not about competing, it’s about creating a space where every woman in tech and all women in tech organizations can thrive (Wonder Women Tech - Lisa Mae Brunson, Gloria Bell - Women in Tech Summit , Sean Lowery - InnoTech Women in Tech Summits). 🎤As a professional speaker, I share these values, hoping to inspire others to bring the best in themselves out while cheering on my sister speakers (Dr. Jen Welter, Fanny Dunagan). 🏃♀️And in my health and wellness journey as a lifelong athlete, I strive to outdo my previous best, not others. This approach not only improves my performance, but also nurtures my mental and physical wellbeing (Jeanette Cajide). Every step forward is about bettering myself and supporting those around me. Today, I challenge you to chose collaboration over competition, and purpose over pride! 🌐✨ Tag a woman you collaborate with in the comments and let me know how you support each other! #CollaborationOverCompetition #WomenInTech #Leadership #PurposeDriven #Empowerment #TechLeaders #ProfessionalGrowth #Innovation #HealthAndWellness #Entrepreneurship

Last night I attended the annual Startup Grind Women's Summit, as part of #SGWomen's month. 🌟 The theme - Women in #AI. 🌟 Thanks so much to the fascinating and inspirational female panel - all of which have come from backgrounds unrelated to AI - for sharing their insights and experiences. Key learnings from the event include: 🌟 AI is an elevator. It is an extension to our learning capabilities. 🌟 AI still has an image problem due to lack of diversity and collaboration. 🌟 The tech industry needs more female role models. 🌟 And it needs to be seen to support female leaders. Although events like this are invaluable it frustrates me that in 2024, the tech industry still has a reputation for being a bit of a boys’ club with only 29% of the UK tech industry being women. If the industry doesn’t take a proactive approach to change, this imbalance is not expected to close until 2120. Don't get me wrong, since I started working in #techpr, the industry has unquestionably made progress, but there’s much more to be done. Empowering women in tech requires a multifaceted approach that addresses both individual and systemic barriers. Here are some successful strategies (thanks techUK) for fostering gender diversity and inclusion in the tech industry: 🌟 Inclusive hiring practices: Implementing blind recruitment processes and diverse hiring panels can help mitigate bias and promote equal opportunities for all candidates. 🌟 Supportive work environments: Cultivating inclusive cultures where women feel valued, supported, and respected is paramount. Providing mentorship programs, leadership development opportunities, and flexible work arrangements can contribute to a more supportive environment. 🌟 Visibility and representation: Highlighting the achievements and contributions of women in tech through mentorship programs, speaker series, and recognition initiatives can inspire the next generation of female technologists and challenge stereotypes.
