Today, the first monopile foundation for Coastal Virginia Offshore Wind (CVOW) was installed approximately 29 miles off the Virginia Beach coast. CVOW is the largest offshore wind farm under construction in the United States and will generate enough clean, renewable energy to power up to 660,000 homes. During installation we are implementing extensive measures to protect whales and other aquatic life, including the use of double bubble curtain to reduce soundwaves underwater during installation, as well as staffing vessels with Protected Species Observers.
