🎉 I am thrilled to share that our paper, "VIC-KD: Variance-Invariance-Covariance Knowledge Distillation to Make Keyword Spotting More Robust Against Adversarial Attacks," has been accepted at ICASSP 2024! 🎉 1) Preprint: https://lnkd.in/egkVH-Vx 2) Code to be out soon at: https://lnkd.in/ekxhdW6U 🔎 In this work, we introduce a novel robust distillation method called VIC-KD. It compresses SSL-based keyword-spotting systems (the first layer of virtual assistants) while boosting its robustness to adversarial attacks. With fewer than 96K parameters and 3 MMACs, our resulting model is a step closer to deploying small-footprint and secure edge speech applications. In preparation for MEMS & Sensors Technical Congress 2024 at UCLA May 1-2, MSIG will be sharing the most popular presentations from MSTC 2023 on the MSIG Youtube channel.   Before you watch the latest video, Solving the Problem of Internal and External Noise Impact on Testing High Sensitivity MEMS & Sensors, check out this conversation Tim Brosnihan had with the speaker, Nigel Beddoe, Cohu’s Director of Product Marketing – MEMS & Sensors: https://lnkd.in/g9upcjuY   Tim: At MSTC 2023, you presented Cohu’s solution for MEMS testing in noisy environments. What’s the noisiest environment you’ve had to tackle?   Nigel: At one customer location, the trim and form system was in the room next to the production floor. With the test floor already at 80dB noise level, the impact sound and floor vibration from the next room made it extremely challenging on previous generation equipment.   Tim: What is the latest advancement in Cohu’s MEMS testing technology?   Nigel: Cohu has reduced the system noise floor to such a level that we see no interference at the DUT from ambient or electrical noise and even heavy vibrations, which results in our ability to test MEMS at the highest levels and tightest tolerances.   Tim: Mangosteen or Durian -- which do you prefer and why?   Nigel: Well, both are quite pungent. Wear leveling of NVMs, our primary focus of research, achieves another accollade through its recent publication in ACM Transactions on Design Automation of Electronic Systems (ACM-TODAES). Title: "AmLuCEP: Amalgamating LUT-based Compression and Adaptive Encoding Assisted Block Placement To Improve Lifetime of NVMs" Co-author: Arijit Nath In this paper, we propose an integrated solution by combining the effect of compression; and encoding-assisted block placement to improve lifetime of NVMs. Our compression technique exploits word-level redundancy and the encoding method places the compressed data in an appropriate location within the memory address to reduce wear.

📣 I am thrilled to share that our paper, “Minimum Width for Universal Approximation Using ReLU Networks on Compact Domain”, was accepted at the ICLR 2024! 💡 In our paper, we find the minimum width of networks required for universal approximation (UA)! Quick Summary of Results: 1. For Lp distance, max{dx, dy, 2} is the minimum width needed for ReLU networks on compact domains  2. This holds for a range of ReLU-like activations (e.g., Leaky-ReLU, Swish, Mish) 3.
