Britvic plc delivered an encouraging start to FY24 with robust Q124 results that showed good revenue progression, reflecting the strength of its brand portfolio. Group revenue growth of 8.1% was driven by positive trends in both price and volumes and was broad-based across Britvic’s geographies, continuing the positive momentum from FY23. Particularly strong growth in Brazil reflects the success of the Extra Power acquisition. Britvic reported robust trading over the important Christmas period, with revenue growth of 12.1% and volumes up 6.4% in December. The company continues to invest in its brands, including a refresh of Pepsi, and consequently is confident in achieving FY24 market expectations. Mega Merger: Brazilian Government Considers Combining LATAM, GOL, & Azul Into A Single Carrier The Brazilian aviation industry is in a unique position, with a classic triopoly of three airlines—GOL, Azul, and LATAM—controlling over 99% of the domestic market. All three of these airlines operate a different business model, cater to different customer bases, and have non-uniform backstories that have created complex corporate structures. Each airline sits in a unique position from a business perspective. GOL Airlines is a budget carrier in the most dire financial straights and currently sits under Chapter 11 Bankruptcy protection. Azul Linheas Aéreas is a non-traditional low-cost carrier launched by legendary industry figure David Neeleman. While it may not be the most financially successful among South American carriers, it certainly is not under bankruptcy protection. BEUC - The European Consumer Organisation welcomes that IAG’s takeover of Air Europa is not going ahead. This merger risked air passengers facing higher fares, less choice of routes and degraded services. BEUC formally intervened in the EU Competition Policy investigation to express its view that the merger should be cleared only with remedies that effectively counteracted all the competition harms that could result for consumers in terms of higher prices, reduced choice and connectivity and poorer quality service. During fiscal year 2023, Fraport AG's EBITDA reached a new high of EUR 1,204 million, with the Group's net profit significantly rising to EUR 430.5 million. Revenue increased by 25.2% to EUR 4.00 billion, with an adjusted increase of 21.7% to EUR 3.49 billion, excluding revenues from construction and expansion measures. The operating result mirrored this growth, setting a record at EUR 1.20 billion, up 16.9% from the previous year.
