Astute political repositioning by the Federal Reserve System on the capital rules via announcements today on new impact analysis, comment-deadline extensions. Usually, these operational concessions allow those unwilling to make substantive concessions to strengthen their hand. However, the pressure on Fed is super-intense not just re these regs, but also its balance-sheet losses, inflation, etc. In my experience, the Fed will cave on controversial regs if it decides this is necessary to save core mission. We shall see. #FRB #banks #bankcapitalrules #capitalrules
