Your resume can only be as good as the information you give your resume writer, so tell us EVERYTHING you think might be remotely relevant, and be prepared to think about the questions we ask you. But if you’re really struggling on *who* you are, working with a career coach first is probably a good idea! #resumewriting #careercoaching

As a resume writer who is also an artist, I love looking through all the pretty resume templates that graphic designers have made - so many ideas! HOWEVER, I generally cannot recommend that the standard job seeker use these templates. While they're gorgeous, I see a lot of risks for the average user, like ATS readability, forcing the content to fit the format (a pet peeve of mine), and potential compatibility issues. Have you ever used a resume template? If so, how did it go? #resumetips #contentfirst

One of the most common things I see as a resume writer is a client who hasn’t updated their resume in 5-10 years. I totally understand how that happens, but it will make your life so hard when you find yourself needing a resume! If you update your resume every 3-6 months, or even just add to a list/folder of accomplishments, it will make your life so much easier! #resumetips

So, I have a Roomba. The obvious idea was that having and using that technology would make my life easier. Yesterday, it had a Monday 😂 I had forgotten to move an oscillating fan from the weekend when our AC was out, so the Roomba tried to drive up one of the feet and got stuck...and so it began. That poor little robot got lost for 45 minutes in my kitchen (it's not a giant kitchen) trying to find its way to the living room. It got confused and told me the bin was full when it wasn't. It fell down the stairs. It got lost some more. And then when it FINALLY found the living room again...the battery ran low and it had to return home to charge. I'm not the most patient person and I was getting FRUSTRATED. It was supposed to be easy, right? Set it and forget it. Then I decided to take a moment to stop and reframe. That little robot, even on a bad day, still made it so I only had to move it twice, empty the empty bin, and push a button three times. I didn't have to pull out the big vacuum and actively run it. It's so easy to get frustrated with the technology that is supposed to be making our lives easier (anyone who has tried to format in Word when it decides to "help" knows this feeling, I'm sure). When is the last time you stepped back and practiced some gratitude for all of the tools we have at our disposal now? That reframe to gratitude changed it all for me, and I told the little Roomba to just take the rest of the day off instead of heading back out after it charged. Poor thing had a Monday. (Side note: I don't think Roomba's will be leading the charge when the robots rise up)
