I talk about resume, interview, & career | Certified Lean Six Sigma Black Belt | Project Manager | Solution Architect | Business Analyst | Digital Transformation Enthusiast
Not getting annual leave is normal, it's not your rights. Yes, it is absolutely true. Your blood might be boiling knowing this, but it is true for the first 12 consecutive months of employment! According to our beloved employment act, employers are not obligated to give you annual leaves, like it or not. Only after that duration, you are eligible for only 8 days per year! Employers can, within the Act, be flexible in their entitlements to you. So, before you sign that contract of service, please read the terms, benefits, and other agreements. Don't sign it lightly and later complain of the company's benefits or lack thereof in the social media. That's a major red flag by the way, good luck getting hired. That said, a lot of companies are giving you annual leaves in the first year of your employment, and a lot of them give more than the minimum. Why? To attract talents, of course. Regardless, we should be thankful if so. To whom? To the company? Sure, but even more to you because you made that choice, yeay! The bottomline is, make good choices, and don't be too fast on ranting, it might backfire. Another vote to make these things an elective (even better if it's compulsory) subject in universities. Goodluck! #annualleave #employmentact #workersrights #freshgrads

👀 Interesting stuff for #multifamily recruiting/hiring managers and executive leaders. According to a Handshake report on a survey of 2,500+ undergraduate students, respondents said they would not accept a job that didn't include these benefits, in order of importance: #1: Paid Time Off (72%) #2: Health care coverage (70%) #3: Employer-administered 401(k) or similar (65%) How does this match up with your experiences when trying to recruit new #rentalhousing professionals to your team? What does your org do to stand out from other employers? 🔗 Stats source: https://bit.ly/3ILE1Zv #recruiting #hiring #Benefits #EmployeeExperience #rentalhousing #laborshortage #propertymanagement #rpmcareers

Before starting your new job, it's important to find out if your future employer offers administrative or courtesy leave for finding a place to live. This is crucial because if they provide this leave without it counting against your unaccrued leave, you won't have to worry about using up leave you haven't earned yet. #NewJob #Relocation #EmployeeBenefits #JobTips #LeavePolicy

Very interesting take on „ageism“, why companies often don’t consider older “overqualified” candidates, and why they really should. Luckily I work with several clients who are open to entertaining older candidates as well. One benefit in addition to the experience they bring is often the “staying power”. If someone finds a good fit in their 50ties or early 60ties, chances are pretty high they will ride it out until retirement. What is your personal experience as an employer and/or job seeker?
Why employers DON'T want older job seekers.

When is someone too old to work or too old to get hired? According to many employers, 62 is the cutoff for working, and 58 for hiring. It begs the question: What planet are they on? “Many employers are focusing on diversity, equity, and inclusion, but they may be overlooking age in their hiring efforts,” said Catherine Collinson, CEO and president of Transamerica Institute and the Transamerica Center for Retirement Studies, which conducted the recent study. Roughly 1 in 5 Americans age 65 and older were employed in 2023, four times the number in the mid-1980s. That chalks up to around 11 million workers. They’re working more hours, on average, than in previous decades. Today, 62% of older workers are working full time, compared with 47% in 1987, according to the Pew Research Center. And they’re more likely to have a four-year college degree than in the past. Read more: https://lnkd.in/e8b25TD7 #yahoofinance #humanresources #careers #employment

Chief Operations Officer proficient in start-ups in nutra, disruptive industries and compliance. LinkedIn Contributor
It felt like it was yesterday when I was the youngest employee at all of my jobs. And while the first few years I took it all for granted, by the time I hit my early 20's I was finding myself seeking counsel from my senior co-workers, as well as career and life tips that benefit me to this day. Whether you are seeking employment and fall in the "older" worker category, or are actively hiring and might have misgivings of hiring "older" to join your team, allow me to not just offer this well researched article but a few things to consider. A great deal of older workers come with many accomplishments. This means that they know all the ways something will fail while also leveraging the situation for a successful and fiscally beneficial outcome. The amount of time, money and liability a seasoned professional can save you will far outweigh their salary. Years in business will expose you to a variety of pitfalls that do not reveal themselves until it is too late. An older professional will be able to weigh the ROI to hiring, investing or undertaking projects. One of the biggest values I experienced, and now provide, is bringing a practical approach to the most nuclear of situations. The overwhelming knowledge that all can, and will be resolved to mutually benefit all involved is a skill best obtained through several real life experiences. Finally, it is almost impossible to put a price point on the resources older team members can bring to a start up or established business. Their long and successful relationships with business contacts can save you having to test vendors, investors, service providers, clients, providing a proven fast track to solutions. Older team members can be a benefit to the overall operations as well as the corporate culture. #olderteammembers #experienceisvital #integrity #leadership #business
