When margin demands at the brokerage firm get higher and higher, you are likely to see this impact you more and more. And you don't need to look further than your pharmacy plan. In my time at a private equity owned brokerage firm, I saw how 1 pharmacy coalition was the only option presented for years. I saw the pressure put on teams to use that coalition. I saw resentment at times from the staff when they wanted to explore a new solution but it was frowned upon. A culture was created that had perpetuated the same solution year after year that frankly wasn't producing great results. That culture stemmed from a "special deal" that was negotiated behind the scenes that drove additional revenue to the firm - a deal that employers didn't know about unless they asked. Rarely did an employer ask. If you are getting presented the same solutions year after year and they aren't producing positive results, this could be happening to you.
