[#ConstructionObservatory] We are proud to announce the release of the 2024 Sustainable Construction Barometer! From 10 countries in 2023, to 22 now covered, this new edition offers valuable insights to make sustainable construction the new normal in the built environment. Among our key learnings: ➡ 68% of people questioned in the 2024 Sustainable Construction Barometer consider themselves sufficiently informed about sustainable construction, with some countries from Europe, South America or Africa still reporting an information deficit. ➡ The understanding of sustainable construction mainly revolves around “green construction”, overlooking crucial aspects like health, wellbeing and buildings’ resilience. There’s definitely a pressing need to broaden awareness of a complete definition of sustainable construction. ➡ And indeed, raising the general public’s awareness is seen as a priority lever for accelerating the development of sustainable construction, with a total of 31% responses among 15 proposed items. Raising awareness among all stakeholders is also high in the priority list, with 26% support! These findings provide decisive insights to guide our action and support the sector's transition to more sustainable construction. 🔗 Don't miss the full study conducted by Saint-Gobain's Sustainable Construction Observatory and CSA (Institut d'Etudes): https://urlz.fr/qnK9 https://lnkd.in/efZrxb7f

[#ConstructionObservatory] One year ago, SaintGobain launched the Sustainable Construction Observatory, driven by two strong convictions: ➡ Firstly, the construction sector has both the solutions and the capacity for action that can turn the tide regarding global issues such as climate crisis, energy emergency, protection of natural resources, rapid urbanization calling for decent housing and better living places for all. ➡ Secondly, no single player can meet this challenge alone. Reflecting on this year, I am delighted to see the progress made and the cooperation it is fostering within a still fragmented market. Today, we have just released our 2024 Sustainable Construction Barometer, which is the third essential component of the Observatory alongside our digital magazine – Constructing a Sustainable Future – and our “Sustainable Construction Talks” held last year in Paris, New York and Dubaï. Among the key learnings of this 2024 study conducted with CSA (Institut d'Etudes) within 22 countries, here are the results I'd like to highlight : 🔸Comprehension of sustainable construction still mainly focuses on “green construction”, leaving the equally important aspects of health, wellbeing and buildings resilience aside. We have to change this perception and address both aspects, planet and people, together. 🔸A sense of urgency for action emerges, but with a need for greater awareness among all stakeholders and cooperation within the value chain. I’m convinced that scaling up can’t be done without embarking all stakeholders. That is what the Observatory is about. 🔸Respondents feel better informed, better trained, and more committed to sustainable construction. Let’s welcome this very positive dynamic and therefore continue with our efforts! …It is up to all of us, as stakeholders of the construction sector, to further move from reflection to tangible implementation, in order to build a sustainable future for generations to come. Are you genuinely walking the talk on environmental responsibility, or are you merely surfing this wave? As construction professionals, we have a profound responsibility to not only build for the present but also safeguard the future. Today, I want to delve into a topic close to my heart: sustainable construction practices. In an era marked by environmental awareness and resource conservation, the imperative to embrace sustainability has never been more pressing. Sustainable construction is about reimagining our approach to design, construction, and operation to minimize environmental impact and maximize long-term value. By incorporating renewable materials and energy-efficient systems, and optimizing resource usage while minimizing waste, we not only mitigate our carbon footprint but also enhance resilience, occupant comfort, and overall quality of life. Sustainability isn't just a checkbox on a project checklist—it's a mindset, a commitment to future generations, and a driving force for innovation. As construction project managers, we have the unique opportunity to lead the charge towards a greener, more sustainable future. Let's harness the power of sustainability to create spaces that inspire, nurture, and endure for generations to come. Together, let's pave the way towards a brighter, more sustainable future. 🌱🏗️ #SustainableConstruction #GreenBuilding #ConstructionManagement #Innovation #BuildingForTheFuture

[#ConstructionObservatory] From protecting the environment to reducing energy consumption and improving human health and wellbeing, the benefits of sustainable construction are widely understood and accepted. So why aren’t they a foregone conclusion in practice? Do the positive initiatives undertaken around the world only have a hope of success if industry stakeholders work together more closely? And if that is the case, how can we get everyone around the table? These are VERY good questions, to which the Sustainable Construction Observatory aims to contribute answers.
