🚚 Day 6 in Florida: A Generous Gift 🚚 On our sixth day of deployment in Florida, we’re proud to share a moment of support from one of our generous sponsors. As shown in the photo, our volunteers are helping unload a truck filled with essential supplies, thanks to the kindness of our friends at Amazon. When Amazon heard about our deployment, they immediately stepped up to the plate, sending approximately 320,000 items from their Disaster Relief Hub in Atlanta. The strength of these men, fighting their way through unimaginable grief after losing sons and fathers in the military, left us both humbled and proud. We were privileged to welcome these survivors from Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors to Camp OBR last week. They experienced culinary therapy with John David Wheeler in our ThermoWorks, Inc. culinary education center, completed a memorial gazebo, building benches and installing dog tags engraved with their loved ones names, and connected with each other and Mother Nature. They’re family now. We miss them already and hope they’ll visit often. Thank you to the sponsors, donors, volunteers, and staff who continue to make this dream of a healing place for our heroes and their families a reality. As we continue to pick up the pieces after Monday’s fire at Camp OBR, your outpouring of support for our mission means the world to us. At its core, the heart of our mission is taking care of people. Whether we’re rushing to disasters, organizing events for veterans and first responders, or hosting survivors of military loss at Camp OBR, taking care of people is what drives us, what fuels our passion, and what defines who we are. This week dealt us a gut punch, and you’ve all shown up to take care of us. To say we’re humbled and grateful is an understatement. Your dedication fuels our resolve, and we promise to honor it every day. So far in 2024, 344 devoted volunteers from across the country have deployed to 10 disaster events and organized 57 non-disaster events providing more than 98,000 meals. Just last week while deployed to Lake Jackson, Texas after Hurricane Beryl, we also welcomed young adult survivors of military loss to Camp OBR. Here they experienced transformative moments through culinary therapy, connection, and outdoor adventures. This is demanding work, often hot, logistically complicated, and hectic, but we wouldn't trade it for the world. As we navigate through this disaster, we want to assure you that with your steadfast support, we’re stronger than ever. We stand ready to care for people whenever and wherever they need us, and no disaster will ever change that. Thank you for standing with us.

As many of you know, a fire broke out at Camp OBR Monday night and destroyed our newly built bathhouse, laundry facilities, garages, and essential equipment. Had it not been for the swift actions of Lakeview Heights Fire Protection District, Benton County Missouri 911, Cole Camp Rural Fire Department, Lincoln County Fire Protection District, Osage Valley Fire Protection District, Stover Rural Fire Department, Gravois Fire Protection District, Warsaw Fire Protection District, Cole Camp Ambulance District, Warsaw Lincoln Ambulance District, and Benton County MO Sheriff's Office, the loss would have been even more devastating. Words cannot fully express the depth of our gratitude for your heroic efforts in isolating the fire and saving the rest of our beloved Camp OBR. The tireless dedication and courage displayed by each of you was truly awe-inspiring. In the face of danger, you acted selflessly, prioritizing the safety and well-being of others above all else. Your commitment to protecting our community is deeply appreciated, and we are profoundly thankful for your hard work and sacrifice. Because of you, we can continue to serve members of the military, veterans, first responders, and families of the fallen at this special healing place. Our heartfelt thanks goes out to every firefighter, emergency medical services professional, and dispatcher involved. 🔥 Urgent: Disastrous Fire Strikes Camp OBR🔥 Last night, just 24 hours after wrapping up our first camp for young adult survivors of military loss from Tragedy Assistance Program for Survivors (TAPS), a devastating electrical fire ravaged our newly built bathhouse, laundry facilities, garages, and essential equipment. While the loss is immense, we are grateful that no injuries were reported. While insurance will help with rebuilding, we need to replace essential items before our next camp for families of the fallen on July 24th. Our disaster response team is still serving in Lake Jackson, Texas. Thank you again to our volunteers, sponsors, donors, and followers, for everything you do to make these deployments possible.
