🔔 Calling all HR and management professionals! 🔔 At the South Sound YMCA, we're passionate about recognizing our hardworking staff for their dedication and achievements. We recently sent out our annual survey and noticed that many employees are eager for new ways to celebrate each other's successes. In the past, we've used a "bright star award" where employees could nominate their peers via an online form. While this has been effective, we're exploring ways to make our recognition process even more accessible, engaging, and rewarding. I'd love to hear from you! 🌟 Introducing "Building The Picture" sessions at our terminal 🌟 In response to feedback from our team, highlighted through direct conversations and our employee surveys about the rapid growth and changes within our site, we've launched the "Building The Picture" sessions. Our aim? To keep the essence of our family feel alive as we evolve. These sessions are designed to bridge gaps, share insights about our teams, and celebrate our journey together. They're not new to us, but they're timely. They complement our quarterly Town Hall meetings, led by Simon Culkin. They offer a platform to discuss our roles, challenges, achievements, and how we all fit into the larger picture of our terminal's story. It's all about reinforcing our 'One Team' ethos and fostering inclusion at its core. Mark Johnson, with his 30+ years at National Grid, took the lead on our first session. Mark shared the history of our site and its evolution due to external influences. Despite concerns about interest levels, the session was a hit, attracting over 50 attendees and sparking lively discussions, questions, and even a few laughs about the significant shifts in workplace culture over the years. This is just the beginning. Through "Building The Picture," we're reconnecting with our roots, understanding each other better, and shaping a future we're all a part of. For many, this will be the first full week of work in 2024 (If you were working on New Year's Day you not only earned year-long bragging rights but also our respect). Of course, the new year provides a tremendous opportunity to reset, to reassess, and to reapply yourself to personal and professional goals.     For leaders, it's a great time to step back and reassess, to ask yourself: "Does this new year require new leadership? And if so, how am I going to deliver that?" At Talking Talent we've always specialized in helping organizations ask and answer those difficult questions. To do that effectively, it has always been important to us to embrace the new. So, this is a special time of year for us. Being a top place to work has been a goal since I founded EarthKind. I think of all the recognitions received over the years, this one carries the most feels. We are delighted to share that Back Up has just won The Times and The Sunday Times Spotlight #Award for Best Place to #work for #Disabled Employees. The majority of our team either have or are affected by spinal cord injury. To achieve a high overall engagement score, an organisation must score well across a six-step framework: 1. Reward and Recognition 2. Instilling Pride 3. Information Sharing 4. Empowerment 5. Wellbeing 6. Job Satisfaction In a highly engaged workplace all six steps will be seen positively by employees, albeit to varying degrees. Each of WorkL’s Six Steps consists of between three and five key elements, which are measured on a 0-10 scale. An organisation’s overall engagement score is the sum of all question responses, divided by the maximum possible value as a percentage. Company culture is often talked about but not always fully understood. I often hear people say they want to join a company with a 'good' culture, but what does that mean? You can't see culture, and you can't touch it.
