Raymond Perrault, a Distinguished Computer Scientist at SRI’s Artifical Intelligence Center (AIC), is a leader in the field of AI and an advocate for the development of safe and beneficial AI. Some of the fundamental questions he and other experts are asking AI systems include: Are the systems fair? Can they keep data private? Are they secure? “Being able to measure these aspects of new AI systems is essential to policymakers faced with deciding how to regulate them,” said Perrault. 🚀 Exciting news! GPT-4 has passed the Turing test GPT-4 was judged as human 54% of the time in a recent study involving 500 participants as per BGR. Why does this matter? This is the first robust empirical proof that an AI can consistently pass an interactive 2-player Turing test. However, it's crucial to remember that while GPT-4’s conversational skills are impressive, this doesn’t mean it has achieved true general intelligence. We must focus on ethical guidelines and transparency as AI continues to evolve. Do you think the day is near when we will have AI colleagues instead of humans? Can AI shift from being a complementary entity in the current corporate setup to being an independent resource? Please share your thoughts in the comments section 🚀 #AI #Innovation #Ethics

AI-generated content is flooding the internet, posing challenges like "model collapse," where AI feeds on its errors, as seen in studies like one using OPT-125m language model. Currently, researchers are focused on filtering synthetic data to maintain model quality, underscoring the importance of human intervention in AI development. As we advance, addressing biases in AI-generated content could be pivotal for creating fairer and more inclusive tech, driving advancements in data filtering techniques. #GenerativeAI

https://lnkd.in/dyQQQqYk Today's article from Nature tells an uncomfortable truth, one I am glad this is out. AI isn't everything and is a stark reminder of what and who it serves. It primarily serves humans, and it should be a core philosophy, especially AI-washing companies are prevalent. And it goes to show another insight. The growth of AI isn't exponential; one day human-based data will run out, and for those who think present AI models can run based on AI-generated data, it is one's wishful thinking. This is apparent; the gap is getting smaller when GPT3 to 3.5 and to 4. We should temper our expectations and continue to develop talent, and more importantly, teach humans. Humans are the most organic computers and innately intelligent species out there.

Why AI sometimes gets it wrong — and big strides to address it Around the time GPT-4 was making headlines for acing standardized tests, Microsoft researchers and collaborators were putting other AI models through a different type of test — one designed to make the models fabricate information. To target this phenomenon, known as “hallucinations,” they created a text-retrieval task that would give most humans a headache and then tracked and improved the models’ responses. The study led to a new way to reduce instances when large language models (LLMs) deviate from the data given to them. It’s also one example of how Microsoft is creating solutions to measure, detect and mitigate hallucinations and part of the company’s efforts to develop AI in a safe, trustworthy and ethical way.
