In that quote we read Ellisonian Wisdom expressed in ways that some people recognized as witty, and that was perceived by others as provocative! Whichever the case, the underlying message is profound for those of us who want to live confident lives and not be thrown by any words from others who may question our worth, damn us or intend to demean and belittle us. Whilst it is beneficial to pay attention to, learn from, and not shy away from constructive criticism from others, putting any delicate ego or arrogance aside, let’s think things through so we discern whether their words can provide insights and prop-ups: or are put-downs and arrows intended to harm and diminish our sense of wellbeing. Let’s be mindful about what we say to others too, choosing words, and the tone we express them in, wisely. A road to inner tranquility is often paved with the wisdom to take neither the nasty words of others, nor our own self defeating thoughts, too seriously! ☺️

In today's age of misinformation and disinformation, it's crucial that we prioritize voices grounded in expertise and evidence. We need more Neil deGrasse Tysons and fewer Joe Rogans. Thought leaders like Tyson, who communicate complex scientific ideas with clarity and integrity, are essential in helping us navigate the flood of information that bombards us daily. Giving platforms to those who speak freely without substantial knowledge on important subjects can be dangerously misleading. As Michiko Kakutani discusses in "The Death of Truth," the erosion of objective facts and the rise of "alternative facts" threaten our ability to make informed decisions and have constructive debates. Opinions and ideas should be grounded in evidence and expertise, not just loud voices. We must strive for a culture that values truth and critical thinking over sensationalism and speculation.
