Trucks in Germany move an impressive 3 billion tons of goods every day and logistics yards often serve as crucial handling points. 🚚📦 In collaboration with partners from politics, industry and science, we at ITK Engineering are working on the future of logistics yards in the "𝗬𝗮𝗿𝗱𝗠𝗮𝗻𝗮𝗴𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁𝗛𝗗𝗛" project funded by the Bundesministerium für Digitales und Verkehr. The project focuses on intelligent yard management to increase safety, efficiency and sustainability in logistics yards and container handling areas. 🛡️📈♻️ Our experts developed and patented "𝘋𝘺𝘴𝘪𝘴" - an innovative assistance system for logistics operators - that brings vehicles safely to the loading gates at container yards. The cross-vehicle approach can provide crucial assistance to drivers, teleoperators or automated vehicles in the future and only requires camera or lidar sensors at the loading gate. New articulated arm robots, AI software and teaching unit: The new Melfa robot arms from Mitsubishi Electric offer more load capacity and higher ranges. With the Melfa RV-12CRL, for example, the company has launched a vertical articulated arm robot on the market, which has a range of 1,504mm and a load capacity of 12kg. The RT-ToolBox 3 is an intuitive software for online and offline programming with simulation. It enables simple programming, flexible customisation and seamless communication with other systems. The integrated AI support improves movement sequences and increases efficiency. For example, it can integrate 3D system data to enable precise movements and collision avoidance. In addition, gripper models can be included in the simulation. The R86TB teaching box allows the use of the RT toolbox3 functions directly on the robot. With the 3D simulation software Melsoft-Gemini, processes can be built directly in a 3D simulation environment. This enables advance control and improvement in the simulation without real components. Simulation is not an option but a necessity, especially for verifying and validating AI enabled autonomous systems across industries. It becomes even more challenging to verify and validate these systems in railway context, given the strict safety regulations, particularly for non-regular scenarios and considering the minimal possibility to generate these scenarios in real world for algorithm training and maturation !! With dSPACE we take a leap forward in setting up the environment that enables simulation of such scenarios, enabling V&V of the ambitious autonomous systems targeted for European railways. Allerdings sind Tests auf realen Strecken mit realen Zügen nur sehr begrenzt möglich und teuer. Die #DigitaleSchieneDeutschland hat in Kooperation mit dSPACE nun eine Simulationsumgebung erschaffen, um möglichst viele Entwicklungs-, Verifizierungs- und Validierungsprozesse virtuell durchzuführen. Bosch positioned itself as an innovation leader and demonstrated the fusion of infotainment and driver assistance functions at 𝐂𝐄𝐒® 2024 𝐢𝐧 𝐋𝐚𝐬 𝐕𝐞𝐠𝐚𝐬, 𝐉𝐚𝐧𝐮𝐚𝐫𝐲 2024. This step aims to reduce the complexity of electronic systems in cars while maximizing safety.
