Today, June 11th, marks the first UN International Day of Play. 🎊 The aim is to celebrate play by ensuring children have the access, time, and space needed to play and thereby reach their full potential. In relation to this day, we want to highlight one of our projects, 'Politician for a Day'. This game is more than just a game—it's an educational tool for empowerment, civic engagement, and confidence in democratic policymaking. It allows students to immerse themselves in the world of politicians, fostering critical thinking and civic responsibility. 💡 Let this day remind us of the joy and benefits of play-based learning and why we are dedicated to integrating playful experiences with the serious topics and projects we cover. Check this article out! Recognizing intersectionality is so important
“Afro-Latino students rarely, if ever, see themselves represented in curricula and the broader pop culture, but they often encounter colorism and racism at school and are at heightened risk of overly punitive school discipline measures.” - Manny Zapata, EdTrust’s P-12 policy and research intern, shares on our blog: https://edtru.st/3P5cbuR

Be a Changemaker! Be a Sponsor for ISDC 4.0 At Black Girl's Dream Initiative (BGDI), we understand the power of empowering the next generation of leaders. That's why our vision, since day one, has been to raise the next generation of leaders and eloquent speakers by training them in debating, essay writing, and public speaking. The impact we have made so far speaks volumes. We have successfully impacted over 1,170 students, igniting a 90% increase in their interest in Public speaking and Debate. This passion has translated into a remarkable 75% improvement in their academic performance—a testament to the transformative power of our initiative. This year, we are gearing up for an even bigger and bolder ISDC. Our ambitious goal is to reach 500 more students and equip them with the right knowledge and skills in debating and public speaking. ISDC 4.0 promises to be an immersive experience featuring: Interactive Training: This is designed to spark curiosity and ignite the students' passion for debating and public speaking. It also exposes them to essay writing and effective communication. Debate Competitions: After the training at the school level, the best debaters compete among themselves. This helps them build a healthy competition spirit and desire to win. This is where YOU come in! To make ISDC 4.0 a resounding success, we need the unwavering support of visionary sponsors like you. Your contributions, big or small, will directly translate into: Essential resources: Funding for training materials and logistics to facilitate smooth training and debate competition in schools. Volunteer resources: Annually, highly skilled speakers dedicate their time and expertise to mentoring our future debaters and public speakers at different schools. During the program, the volunteers need transportation, mobile data, and feeding. Grand finale: Financial assistance will ensure the grand finale's success and provide gifts for the winners. Partnering with BGDI for the ISDC will help train the next set of debaters. It is an opportunity to carry out Civic Society Responsibility and contribute to the success of this initiative. Are you ready to join us in making a difference? We encourage you to visit our website or contact us directly to discuss sponsorship opportunities.

President of Marketing, Strategy and Products at T-Mobile, leading Marketing, Strategy & Development, Product, Wholesale and Advertising Solutions teams.
As a parent of four, I've experienced directly how essential connectivity is for educational success at every level. With millions of school age children across the U.S. lacking reliable internet access, closing the digital divide is key to equalizing educational opportunities and paving the way for brighter futures. Through T-Mobile's Project 10Million initiative, we're actively addressing this issue, and enhancing our program to offer even more support for students, ensuring they have the connectivity they need. I'm excited to announce partnerships with Boys & Girls Clubs of America and my friend, Oscar, Emmy and Grammy award-winning artist and activist, Common. Together, we're launching enrollment campaigns and back-to-school events nationwide to ensure more students have the connectivity they need to succeed. https://bit.ly/4gM0fKI

After graduating with my MBA from the University of Florida - Warrington College of Business in Spring 2022, I, untraditionally, decided to continue my education and pursue a Graduate Certificate in Disability Studies from the University of Florida. While I have my own experiences with disability, by no means would I label myself as an "expert” in disability. I recognize the diversity within disability and accept that my experiences are unique to myself. With that in mind, my goal in learning about disability studies was to gain further knowledge on what I can do to make the corporate environment, and our world in general, a place that fosters inclusion and belonging for individuals with disabilities. As part of the certificate program, one of my course assignments was to create a grant proposal (real or fictional) relating to disability. Because I had very minimal familiarity with grant proposals, I was initially worried about the assignment and if I could actually create something meaningful. However, rather than taking the easy way out and writing a fictional grant proposal, I challenged myself to craft something that can be utilized by Laughing At My Nightmare, Inc., where I have the great honor of serving as Board Chair. The majority of individuals and families we assist through the organization do not have the financial resources to independently obtain the equipment or services they need as a result of their disability. Reflecting on this further, I felt that it was essential to provide a sustainable pathway that would hopefully lead to financial independence and security for people with disabilities. I fully believe in the power of education and how it can unlock a higher earning potential and benefits for the disability community, which can then result in independence, but I recognize that barriers often exist. As a result, my grant proposal assignment ultimately led to the creation of the new Laughing At My Nightmare, Inc. Academic Scholarship Program. This year, we are thrilled to offer 1-2 individuals living with muscular dystrophy a full-ride scholarship (covering all tuition, fees, & course materials) to obtain an undergraduate or graduate degree, removing cost-associated barriers to higher education. The application is now available and will remain open until April 5, 2024. It is still difficult for me to fully comprehend how a class assignment, which I was not entirely thrilled about, resulted in an actual scholarship program that will hopefully help so many people with disabilities for years to come. Above all, I am most excited that our future recipients will be able to obtain an education and pursue their dreams. #disability #education #scholarships #scholarshipopportunity #musculardystrophy #nonprofit #LAMN

Today, we commemorate Juneteenth, a day of profound significance in our history. It marks the emancipation of the last enslaved African Americans in the United States—an important milestone in our journey toward equality and justice. At Escode, Part of NCC Group, we reflect on the lessons of Juneteenth as we strive for a better future together. We believe in the power of growth, support, and hard work to drive meaningful change in our careers and communities. 🌱 Career Growth: Juneteenth reminds us of the importance of continuous learning and growth. It's a day to celebrate our progress and commit to advancing our careers through education, mentorship, and opportunities that empower us to reach new heights. 🤝 Support: Just as communities came together to support one another during times of struggle, we emphasize the value of support within our teams. By fostering an inclusive environment where everyone feels heard and valued, we can achieve remarkable things together. 💪 Hard Work: Juneteenth teaches us that progress is not always easy but requires dedication and perseverance. Through hard work and determination, we can overcome challenges and build a future where equality and opportunity thrive. As we celebrate Juneteenth, let us honor the resilience and achievements of those who paved the way before us. Together, let's continue to strive for a world where every individual can pursue their dreams and contribute to a brighter tomorrow. Happy Juneteenth!
