"Product is still the most important P..." One of the best pieces of marketing advice I received* in the last 12 months was that "No amount of amazing marketing will make up for a shit product.". And you know what, it's so right. It has become my rule for my working life. If the product isn't good, and marketing isn't allowed in the room to shape/nurture/feedback in making it better - I'm out. So many marketers feel like that are failing, or being judged by their C-Suite for not delivering when really, no amount of advertising, PR, social, SEO, will make up for the fact that the product quality isn't there. Luckily, I don't have that issue right now. I'm surrounded by great people delivering great products with impeccable service. If you're a marketer, and you're feeling stressed or frustrated my advice would be to move on (as quickly as you can!). Don't hang around to let your marketing prowess be overlooked due to something that is potentially out of control. *When I say received, I mean I read it on an Instagram post. Or LinkedIn. Or maybe on a podcast. Forgive me, but I can't remember where - it just stuck!
Ritson reviews the best beer ads whilst down the pub Mark Ritson famously got banned as a 'Linkedin expert' by answering every question with "go down the pub and have a couple of pints" so we decided to do just that The challenge? Take the System1 database and find out what the Top 10 Beer Ads of all time are whilst drinking beer and putting the World to rights This isn't the most scientific approach ever taken but I think you'll still be surprised by some of the results I have a feeling we'll be back down the pub again soon Spectacular work by Producer James filming, recording and editing this one whilst drinking beer Cheers Link to the episode in comments Kerry Collinge James M. Spotting Creedence Clearwater Revival’s abbreviated name “Creedence Clearwater” on early Woodstock bus ads inspired a trip down the CCRabbithole. Every online story seems to agree about the origins of Creedence Clearwater Revival’s unusual name, including Bethel Woods. Our website says, “They chose the name... supposedly to honor Tom’s friend Credence Newball, echoing the clear water phrase from an Olympia beer advertisement, and to signify the band’s renewed commitment.” It’s good that we hedged with “supposedly,” because while the Olympia Beer claim should be easy enough to confirm, it’s actually...unclear. The phrase “clear water” doesn’t appear in any of their half dozen or so 1960s TV ads on YouTube, nor in any of the 1960s print ads we found. There was plenty of talk from Olympia’s marketing team about the water, with their tagline “It’s the Water” and descriptions of it as natural, artesian, pure, cool, refreshing, and cascading, but no mention of “clear.” Even an online dissertation about the history of Olympia Beer doesn’t cite a specific advertisement or campaign to back up the repeated claim. Maybe it’s time to consider other beer adverts from the ’60s. An early 1960s TV spot from the Texas-based Pearl Brewery includes the phrase “clear water,” and a 1960 jingle from Pearl Beer uses the word “clear” but not the full phrase.

This is how you use a cooking show to grow a food business. I trained Chef Winston in January and he has been a man on a mission ever since. In this video, he's doing the following: - Promoting his Johnny Cake product - Promoting his catering business - Promoting his spice blends (look around his kitchen and you'll see product placement everywhere) I encourage you to watch this video on your television so that you understand what YouTube is really about these days. It is not just another social media platform. YouTube is the only social media platform that enables you to put yourself directly on TV. According to Neilsen data, in U.S. households, YouTube is the number one streaming platform on TVs. Not Netflix. YouTube. That means if you have a cooking show on YouTube, you have a cooking show on TV. Chef Winston has a cooking show on TV and he's taking full advantage of the opportunity. If you're trying to grow a business and you're not using YouTube, you're leaving hundreds of millions of free advertising dollars on the table. Other than YouTube, how else can you advertise your business on TV in the U.S. and around the world for free? https://lnkd.in/e9MzUcRN #culinary #cooking #foodbusiness #cheflife
