It was a busy #EssenceFestival weekend for #TeamSpears! First, we led the planning and execution of the Xavier Ochsner College of Medicine’s special panel discussion with national medical professionals and local experts from Ochsner Health moderated by Angela Rye & Dr. Courtney Arianne Washington. Nearly 300 people attended the event to learn more about “Why Diversity in Medicine Matters” and the newly-announced XOCOM, which is set to be the only #HBCU medical school in the Gulf South when it opens. Next up, we worked closely alongside our client W.K. Kellogg Foundation to produce the #IamNewOrleans panel on the Global Black Economic Forum stage. The panel, titled “What To Do When You Can’t Be Loud Enough,” featured Ashley Shelton, Executive Director of the Power Coalition for Equity and Justice, and Janai Wilson, President and Director-Counsel of the NAACP Legal Defense and Educational Fund, Inc.
