Encouragement is powerful

Indeed it is never too late to fulfill your dreams! Helping a 75-year-old realize his dream of becoming a flight attendant is a heartwarming and commendable act, and it's an excellent illustration of empathy and Emotional Intelligence (EI) in action, particularly in a corporate setting like an airline. Empathy goes beyond just understanding someone's feelings; it's about genuinely feeling with someone and acting upon that understanding. By helping the 75-year-old become a flight attendant, even if just for a day, Southwest Airlines is essentially saying, "We understand how much this means to you, and we're here to make it happen." This act reflects a deep emotional connection and the willingness to go the extra mile. #empathy #emotionalintelligence

Pilot: “I’m a Minneapolis based pilot for Delta airlines.” Senator: “Tell me what a typical workweek is like for you as a stewardess" This is a clear example of systemic sexism and misogyny and the reality of unconscious bias. Later he said 'I don't even know why I said that' which is exactly the point. It's unconscious, it's engrained, it's systemic.* So what can we do about it? Firstly raise our self awareness and understand that we all hold unconscious biases and we are all part of the system. Be curious as to how you are relating to others, and yourself. Don't judge yourself just observe with kindness and curiosity. Secondly, let's consider how this unconscious bias and systemic misogyny shows up in the systems we work and live in. Who's in the positions of power, how did they get there, how are they seeing the world and those they have power over, how are they making decisons, what messages are they sending out? Only once we see the water we swim in can we start to do make effective change. * I'm giving him the benefit of the doubt here. There's also the chance he knows exactly why he said it but admitting that is a level of self reflection and accountability he isn't prepared or able to acknowledge.

Diana Ramos, a dedicated American Airlines flight attendant, tragically passed away under suspicious circumstances while on a layover in Philadelphia. Sadly, her body was only discovered two days later highlighting the importance of thorough wellness checks. We often romanticize the thrill of flying the friendly skies, but it's vital to remember that not every day in this profession is smooth sailing. While we enjoy a degree of autonomy in our roles, we remain a cohesive team. As employees of multi-million-dollar companies, it's imperative that we maintain a high level of vigilance and compassion, treating our frontline workers as valued individuals rather than mere numbers. Let's not allow complacency to infiltrate our roles. Instead, let's nurture a culture of care and empathy. Let's make a commitment to take care of ourselves and each other. And to our passengers, even when faced with delays, inconveniences, and uncertainties, I implore you to always choose kindness. Remember that behind the uniform, we are human beings too, and a little compassion can go a long way. ✈️ Delta Airlines: Time for a Change! ✈️ I've been following Delta Airlines lately, and observing the criticism around the CrowdStrike fiasco. But I think this is a good moment to give kudos to their incredible flight attendants. They’ve been caught in the middle, dealing with the fallout of IT failures that were beyond their control. 💡 Remember: These hardworking individuals are the public face of the company, taking the brunt of the frustration. They deserve the respect and kindness—just as you would want for your own son, daughter, niece, or nephew in the same role. And let's look to the parent company and HR leaders, is your company effectively supporting those on the front line in your employ ? Life lesson: The value of empowering future generations. As professionals trying to make names for ourselves in our respective fields, we sometimes forget how rewarding it is to inspire others. When I found out my brother was flying in #NewJersey this weekend, we planned a surprise trip to Cape May Airport (my hometown where I was raised) so my daughter could see what her uncle does for work. Little did she know that she was going to get her first #helicopter ride. Things I've learned this weekend: 1.) In this current world of chaos, it is SO important to remember that our #future generations will replace us one day. 2.) It is our duty to give back and empower future generations wherever/whenever we can, so they can be #successful when our time is up. 3.) Sometimes giving back to others is FAR more rewarding than a paycheck. 4.) 4-year old's love talking on the mic...nonstop. 😊 Thank you Eagle Air Aviation, LLC for taking some time out of your busy flight schedule to give my daughter an experience she will never forget! Look out world...there may be a new #female #pilot in the workforce soon.
