Cancer immunotherapies have undeniably transformed #oncology treatment. With their arrival, we doubled down on understanding the immune system’s role in #cancer, and in 2013, our own Ira Mellman and Dan Chen developed the cancer-immunity cycle, a framework to understand the series of events that generate anti-cancer immune responses. Since the initial publication 10 years ago, they and other leading scientists like Shannon Turley and Tom Powles have continued to deepen our understanding of the role of the immune system in cancer, unearthing new concepts that can help us bring more effective medicines to patients. #BreastCancer remains the most commonly diagnosed cancer for women in Europe, impacting nearly 29.4% of women. The estimated incidence rate of breast cancer in women in Europe varies greatly. This can be due to where organised breast cancer screening programmes have been carried out and the different prevalence. Early detection is crucial, as 1 in 8 women will be diagnosed with breast cancer in their lifetime. Treatments are far more effective and better tolerated when started early.
