Today we will be hosting an educational webinar, Compassion Fatigue: A Nurse’s Story presented by Cynthia Hammond, PhD, MHE, MSN, RN. This presentation is an overview of a root cause analysis of an internal unrest among nurses. The truth of the unrest developed as a result of nurses only focusing their care on toward the patient. A wholistic focus needs to encompass our profession. We as nurses need to be aware of the internal history of our development as a nursing profession. This knowledge will better prepare as a nurses to enhance our internal structure and be better caregivers. Caregiving should start with the nurse, extend to our nurse- peer then together care for the patient. Cynthia has developed a passion to state the problem and provide solutions for solving the problem. This is the foundation of nurse-caring. This Sunday is International Nurses Day (IND) celebrated on 12 May each year and this year's theme is "Our Nurses. Our Future. The economic power of care." The theme focuses on reshaping perceptions and advocating for strategic investment in nursing which is the backbone of health care. The chosen theme, aims to demonstrate the significant economic and societal benefits of investing in nursing, and the nurses that change the lives of patients and their families, every day. #IND2024 and #OurNursesOurFuture.

Happy Nurse's Week 2024! I am so proud to be a 4th generation nurse that stands on the shoulders of countless legends. My promise to the nurses that have paved the path for my success so far has 2 parts: 1. I promise to be intentional and grateful. I commit to surround myself with people that share my passion & celebrate each other's contributions - Iron Sharpens Iron. I am ecstatic to work with a courageous and innovative team of Nurses that are mission driven to deliver a workforce reality enabling clinicians with flexibility and the compensation they desire while creating financial sustainability and reliability for healthcare organizations. 2. I promise to say the hard things that need to be said. For instance, as we dive headlong into a new age of disruption & innovation at warp speed: if you're a healthcare leader whose organization is partnering with "technology firms" that don't have a Nurse voice at their executive table, ask them how they develop strategic solutions that are meaningful to real clinical users in a rapidly evolving environment. Then, ask yourself how many hours you've spent teaching them why/how systems need to operate in order to deliver seamless user interfaces & experience.
