The National Auto Body Council (#NABC) recently revealed the establishment of the Changing and Saving Lives Foundation, a 501(c)3 organization to support community involvement and fundraising events. The foundation's primary focus is to assist families in need, military members, veterans, and first responders through various programs, including #NABC Recycled Rides, NABC First Responder Emergency Extrication (F.R.E.E.), and NABC Community Impact initiatives. In the year 2023 alone, the NABC, through these programs, distributed over 200 vehicles to families, veterans, and military members in need of reliable transportation. More than 1,500 first responders received life-saving education on vehicle rescue techniques. With the increasing demand for NABC programs, there is a growing need for resources to manage and expand these initiatives. The Changing and Saving Lives Foundation enables the NABC to actively pursue grants, gifts, and donations actively, providing the necessary means to enhance and broaden their programs. Grant Alert! Fisher House Foundation and Military Times Foundation partnered to create the Fisher Service Award. This annual program will award $250,000 to be divided among the top applying nonprofits. Each award winner will also receive an advertising package valued at $34,000 from Military Times! Your organization must be defined as a Section 501(c) nonprofit of the Internal Revenue Service Code. Your program must improve the quality of life for active duty, reserve, or National Guard and/or veterans and their families. Your program must be established and executable within twelve months of the 2024 application cycle closing (by March 21, 2025). Any organizations proposing programs that will affect or take place on a Department of Defense installation will be asked to present documentation that their programs are approved for operation on a Department of Defense installation by the installation commander or the commander’s designee.
