Today is National Injury Prevention Day. This day is to raise awareness about the devastating effects of predictable and preventable injuries. The goal: to educate others and help all Canadians live long lives to the fullest. We know that most injuries are predictable and preventable. We need your help spreading information on preventing serious injuries on the road, at home, and at play. National Injury Prevention Day, spearheaded by Parachute Canada, highlights the importance of keeping ourselves and our loved ones safe. • Every day, 48 Canadians lose their lives and 634 end up in the hospital because of injuries. • Preventable injuries are the leading cause of death among Canadian children and youth. • A staggering 75% of these injury-related deaths are from unintentional causes like falls, car crashes, and poisonings. • Falls are the top reason for injury deaths, hospital visits, and disabilities in our country. While we've made strides in preventing injuries, there's always more we can do.
