Today (1 February) is the start of the Aotearoa Bike Challenge (www.lovetoride.net/nz) a month-long initiative to get kiwis out on their #bicycles, to capitalise on the myriad #health, #planetary, #time and #financial benefits, and to (re)discover the joys of moving around on two(+) wheels. Of little surprise to regular readers, I’m assuming the mantle of KPMG New Zealand’s Bike Challenge Champion for the 2024 edition, dovetailing this with my contribution to the annual KPMG Partner #Wellbeing challenge, and throwing down the wero to my KPMG whānau to keep their wellbeing top of mind as we kick back into our mahi for 2024. Somewhat ironically though, the start of these wellbeing challenges find me in #COVID recovery mode, so rather than my usual ride into the office, the first #bike challenge kms I’ll log will likely be a gentle local fauxmute. It’s super easy to take part in the Aotearoa Bike Challenge (check out the details here: https://lnkd.in/gEz9ttbv) and a great excuse to rediscover your local neighbourhood and/or establish some new habits. Remember: you don’t have to log a multi-km group ride, or a traffic-dodging cycle commute - a five minute roll with your whānau to the local park also counts. The key thing is to get out there and enjoy the glide. You also get points for encouraging your whānau, friends and colleagues to take part in the challenge. $100 refund and a room upgrade, our getaway ended on a high note. Last weekend, my husband and I decided to be tourists. We spent a weekend in Park City, Utah, just 45 minutes from our home. As non-skiers, we took in the sights of the Olympic Park from 2002 and had a nice lunch downtown. Ready to soak in the hot tub and the specular view of the mountains at dusk, we checked into the hotel. Splurging on a luxury room with a view, our excitement was immediately deflated as we were met with an obstructed view and a nonprivate balcony. It's not what you say, it's how you say it, these words of wisdom from my mother came to mind. Instead of storming in with frustration, I went back to the front desk and outlined the situation: -We booked and invested in a luxury room with a view and private amenities -The room didn't meet our expectations or request -Given their commitment to customer satisfaction, was there anything they would do to change our experience? The outcome: $100 refund and a room upgrade. On vacation, at work, and in life, we often encounter situations where we want to change the outcome. Learning how to develop the soft skills like active listening and problem solving can help you upgrade your experience along side others. 🙌🏾 It's possible and easier than you think. This summer AVIS Baltics launched a new product - AVIS campers.  How was our summer with this product? In short - it was something new for us too! The demand from the customers was very high, thank you all for that. And a big thank you to my team who helped answer all the questions the customers had! Vera Ačkasova, Guntis Peimanis! You are beasts! 🔥 🔥 🔥 Although it seemed that we had prepared the maximum amount of information for the customers - starting with a video review of the camper and ending with additional information booklets in the campers themselves, how and what to use, we still received a lot of different questions from customers, many different new situations that have not happened before experienced by us, renting cars for short term or long term. This made us learn a lot of new things ourselves, about a different type of car, equipment (Gas, water, electricity!), and often we had to look for answers for customers longer than usual. In short, it pushed us out of our comfort zone! And finally, in September, I had the opportunity to drive the Camper myself, to try everything it provides. My family and I loved it – we had a great time this weekend! 💓 We will definitely do it again!
