Sooo, a few weeks ago, God laid it on my heart to start a business that I’ve been thinking about since college. A little background: Here I am, no income for almost two years, living on faith to pay our mortgage, and I’m being called to start a business. With what money? I could ask that. This could also be my reasoning for not starting. What if it fails? What if the funding isn’t there? What if I don’t have the time? What if I don’t have enough clientele? What if I don’t know enough? These are all valid questions that, to be honest, I don’t have the answers for. Heck, I don’t even have a logo developed yet 😱. These could be my reasons for not starting but, I’m choosing to move forward anyway. Based on the same faith that has been paying my bills. Am I nervous, yes. I even hesitated posting this because I don’t want to embarrass myself. My reasoning- “If I fail, at least no one will know.” I quickly dispersed that thought by writing in big letters, “Where God leads, there is no failure.” After writing that, I pushed publish on my very first post of my brand new business. Let this be a reminder to you…Just do it. Will it be scary? Probably. But do it anyway. WHERE GOD LEADS THERE IS NO FAILURE. Save the Date! 📣 SBAN is hosting a 2024 Summit on Community Ownership on November 14. 😎 Get more details: The Summit will be a virtual, day-long event focused on long-term solutions that allow community members and stakeholders to control commercial assets, land, and enterprises. At the summit, we’ll explore individual and collective ownership models that support BIPOC- and immigrant-owned small businesses and help them stay in place, including commercial cooperatives, community land trusts, community investment trusts, and commercial property acquisition funds. 👉🏾 What to expect: The event will feature panel discussions, working sessions, and keynotes by small business advocates, policymakers, and other stakeholders involved in community ownership efforts across the United States and abroad.
