The 5 x 40mm capability beats out all other tactical fire support options on a standoff, time to target, safety, cost per shot and operator training basis. Standoff: Cerberus may be 3-5 km away from the operator and hundreds of metres from the target. This keeps the operator safe and puts the platform outside of acoustic range and limits EA vulnerabilities compared to grenade-droppers and FPV drones. Survivability in a contested environment is increased dramatically. Time to target: Cerberus ingress speed is greater than 50 km/h (exact speed under NDA). 40mm low velocity rounds, at 73 m/s, can hit moving targets and get through FPV protection netting. Safety: The 40mm HAVOC launcher and fire control box (https://lnkd.in/ghn_DNk8) are intrinsically safe, with mechanical, electrical, ESD and software safeties, written to UK DEFSTANS. Electronics are build to MIL STD 810. Strapping a grenade or mortar to an FPV drone will never pass safety for an AUKUS acquisition. Operator training: As easy to fly as a commercial drone. AI target recognition on the edge gives the operator a push button interface for fires. If you can fly a DJI and take pictures, you can fly Cerberus and shoot. FPV drone operators take months of training for full proficiency. Cost per shot: A NATO 40mm HE round is ~$100 USD and has no supply chain or arming complications. Not even the Ukrainian-style FPV drones (~$600) can beat that. They also can't perform instantaneous battle damage assessment and follow up with four more rounds.
