Do Innovation and Tradition Really Collide? As a leader, I face the constant challenge of balancing innovation and tradition.   I know, innovation and tradition are not mutually exclusive but rather complementary forces that can drive us forward. Innovation is not about discarding the past but building on it and tradition is not about resisting the future but adapting to it. 1 of the most important steps I take to balance both are attending networking events and exhibitions. Events and exhibitions are great places to see culture, tradition, and innovation come together beautifully.  Each exhibition will have people from different regions, carrying their culture and traditions reflected in their products and innovative ideas. Having conversations with them leads to sharing/exchange of ideas, by combining different perspectives and approaches.   By doing this, I have personally seen a huge jump in my thought process and creative and innovative application. Innovation and tradition are not enemies, but allies. I strive to embrace both of them and leverage them for our competitive advantage. Does Tradition really come in the way of Innovation? The European Union's vision in the field of innovation is gaining even more strength! The European Commission is gearing up to take a significant step within the framework of the new European Innovation Agenda, aimed at accelerating and strengthening the European Innovation Ecosystem. With the goal of fostering innovation across every corner of Europe and coordinating regional R&D investments, the Commission is embarking on a mission to assign the label of "Regional Innovation Valleys (RIV)" to 100 regions. In pursuit of this vision, a budget of €170 million has been allocated. As part of this momentous initiative, the “HORIZON-EIE-2023- CONNECT-03-01: Implementing co-funded action plans for connected regional innovation valleys”call under the European Innovation Ecosystems program will also provide a funding pool of €60 million. They cordially invite all national and regional innovation authorities who are eager to delve deeper into these exciting developments and explore collaborative opportunities to join for an online matchmaking event on September 12, 2023. The event aims to foster connections around five key challenges outlined by the European Innovation Agenda: reducing dependence on fossil fuels, enhancing global food security, managing digital transformation (including cybersecurity), improving healthcare services, and advancing sustainability. Registration for the event continues until September 6, 2023. Remember, participants of this event will not only establish connections but will also take on a pioneering role in Europe's innovation journey. Special birthday 🎉🎂 today: 5 years ago I made the jumpt to starting my own company and oh boy, it has been an exciting ride so far! Some highlights of the journey so far: ➡️ Shifting my pitch from "doing something in innovation & partnerships" to the clearer : "helping others to transform their innovation ambitions into concrete ideas, strong processes and engaged partnerships to maximize chances for success, delivering results and growth" ➡️ Starting just before Covid was not the best timing, but I adapted & survived ➡️ Building & kickstarting a large ecosystem in healthcare: MEDVIA ➡️ Expanding my knowledge and scratching the fascinating world of biotech ➡️ Meeting the great people at World Open Innovation Community ➡️ Winning the Best #openinnovation  #practice  #award ➡️ Delivering a first international Masterclass in Bilbao ➡️ attending the R&D Management conference in Stockholm & going home with tons of new material to read 5 years, sometimes it may seem long; for me it went fast. I especially want to thank all that helped, inspired and supported me these last 5 years. It really made a difference for me. But not yet time to stop: I still have big plans for many things to come.
