At 1:00 AM yesterday morning, our flight home landed after a long travel day home from the ASHE conference in Anaheim. After a check in at R.A.S.K. & Associates, Inc. headquarters, I packed my truck for the National Sporting Clay Assn 2024 US Open. I’ve never shot in one and I couldn’t be more excited! Obviously, things still need to get done and people still communicate…which is why I love these cheesy little work stations in budget-friendly hotel rooms 😂
This US Open shoot needs a bit of clarification. Many people have said “Congratulations!” when I mention that I was shooting it this year. To be clear, I did not have to qualify for this. I simply signed up, paid the fees and drove up here. The shooters here are the best in the country…and I’m a decent shooter for Indiana…but I’m here to compete. My ONLY goals for this first-time (for me) event are to attend, collect stories/experiences, be a good squad mate, and build/trust my process when shooting.
Next week, I’ll have the opportunity to host a group of #HealthcareFacilitiesManagers with Indiana Society for Healthcare Engineering at Victory Field for a baseball game with my partners Abby Lauck, PMP, Edwin Frieden, and Nick Millspaugh as well as represent my team at the annual BOMA Indiana golf outing before leaving for the @Iowa Sporting Clays Association annual state shoot.
Life is busy but good. “Balance” is not something I seek…I much prefer “harmony”…happy to discuss that if anyone is curious about the difference.

Considering expanding your business globally? Here are 5 reasons why using our Employer of Record (EOR) service might be the smarter choice over setting up your entity:
🚀 Speed to Market: With an EOR service, you can onboard employees quickly and start operations in new countries within days, avoiding the time-consuming process of entity registration.
🚀 Compliance Made Simple: Navigating local labor laws, tax regulations, and employment standards can be daunting. Our EOR handles all compliance matters, ensuring you stay on the right side of the law.
🚀 Risk Mitigation: Minimize risks associated with legal liabilities and regulatory changes. An EOR assumes the legal responsibility as the employer, protecting your business from potential pitfalls.
🚀 Focus on Core Business: By outsourcing HR and payroll functions to an EOR, your team can concentrate on strategic initiatives and growing your business globally.
🚀 Cost Efficiency: Avoid upfront costs and ongoing expenses related to establishing and maintaining legal entities abroad. Our EOR service offers a cost-effective solution with transparent pricing.

Compared to most, I don't travel a ton, but I am on the road about twice a month. It is sometimes difficult being away so to make up for some of hard times, I bring my wife with me a couple of trips per year. The first trip is to Mission Viejo, because.....it's Mission Viejo--always spectacular and eMerchant is generous enough to allow for us to use the corporate facility. The second, in July, is the Midwest Acquirers Association. My wife looks forward to it every year. During the conference she will visit the museums......ask me how I feel about museums. Afterwards, we will take in the sites. Two years ago we took in a game at Wrigley Field. Last year we saw Styx at Tinley Park. The trick to bringing a spouse is planning. As I'm just now planning to for the Midwest Acquirers Association, I'm decking the time out on her calendar too.
This may sound silly, but having a trip in mind where I use my travel points somehow makes all the other trips less arduous.

When Elina Kelly asked me around 5km in yesterday "do you find it easy?", I instantly replied "never".
💫 I love being active and will give anything a go. Reflecting on the year so far, I've ran pretty much every week, various paces, distances and terrain. Alongside that I love golf, combat sports, weight training amongst many other things and would never consider any of them 'easy'. They all come with something that pushes you that little bit harder whether that's mentally or physically.
🤼 What I love as much as pushing myself to my limits or out of my comfort zone, is doing that with others. Recognising our capabilities, pushing the boundaries and achieving whatever it is we set out to achieve.
🧠 My mentality translates very much in to everything outside of fitness too, working with others to get the best from them, whether that's businesses or individuals. You've got to love team efforts, what an achievement Elina 👏
🥇 If you made it to the bottom of this post, I'd love to know what you've achieved recently, personally and/or professionally!

Great day yesterday completing my first outdoor 10km! I didn’t do the organised York one - just went and did a route in the afternoon with Stephanie Ward.
Definitely didn’t expect I would be able to do it and do it comfortably but we did it! Great end to the weekend and good way to start the week ahead 🤩
I have a tendency to really lock in when I am focused on something, usually a game or something business-related. I become blind to my surroundings and dialed in on what is right in front of me. This has been good for sports and business, so it is both a quality I value about myself and one that I dislike at the same time.
We spent an awesome night at Andretti's in Orlando when we were there in June. My wife and I had a great time! One of our favorite things to do is to go to Dave and Buster's so this was a step up from that in my opinion!
This photo reminded me of something, though, that I have been trying to change about myself (I have gotten MUCH better about this though!).
I often get so focused on what I am doing that I miss key moments that mean so much more. This could have been a great photo for my wife and I to share, but I had zero clue the camera was even there.
For the first 6 years of my business, I missed so many moments with those closest to me because I was always focused on work.
I've played many rounds of golf where I get too dialed in and focused on my score that I don't take advantage of the time alone with friends or family outside on the course.
I have trouble letting loose and always seem to be in competition with myself.
I have found so much more balance in my lifestyle today because I became aware of this. Photos like this when I catch myself doing it are great learning opportunities for me to be a better husband, friend, son, and brother.
While I know we both had an awesome time and this picture was probably just a wrong place, wrong time moment, I love seeing my wife smile and wish I would have seen it when it happened.
Focus is important and being able to lock-in every day will take you as high as you want to go, but remember to relax from time to time. There is more to life than winning.

So much here that resonates with what I hear from clients - although they describe some sharper edges around the hiring decisions they see, including:
* A retiring senior vice president selecting their favored candidate to succeed them in that role, after telling everyone it was an open search but making sure that this candidate was the only one internally who got the opportunities and experience deemed mandatory for the job.
* Candidates for law firm partnership who have a compelling case and are told they are "close" to elevation but advised that they have to wait because it isn't their time, and there is no clarification as to when it will be - and watch as other, less qualified candidates make it easily.
* Great deputies who have led and managed projects seamlessly, but who can't escape the trap of making their bosses look so good that those same bosses won't let go of them when there is a chance for those deputies to advance.
So, if the reason you're stuck in the #2 slot is because you're being blocked and lack the support you deserve then being runner-up feels less like something you should brush aside and more like a basis for leaving your company or firm.

2moLove this. But PLEASE go back to putting muscle focus in the scheduling app. It is so annoying having to check a separate page when booking class.
