The aircraft c check is considered part of the "heavy maintenance" portion of aviation maintenance. The C Check happens between 18 months to two years (depending on the aircraft). This is likely performed in a special facility, taking 1-2 weeks. During a C. Check, an aviation maintenance technician performs an extensive check of individual systems and components for serviceability and function. Here are some examples of C Check items, per Aviation Pros: Visually check flight compartment escape ropes for condition and security Check operation of DC bus tie control unit Visually check the condition of entry door seals Operationally check flap asymmetry system Pressure decay check APU fuel line shroud Inspect engine inlet TAI ducting for cracks Inspect stabilizer attach bolts Inspect floor beams Detailed inspection of wing box structure

As per the SOLAS regulations, Chapter V , the manning requirements for MODUs' main engine rooms are well-defined to ensure safe operations and adherence to international standards. 1️⃣ Manned Engine Rooms: A qualified engineer should be present in the main engine room at all times during navigation. Their expertise and experience are crucial in operating and maintaining the machinery on board. 2️⃣ Unmanned Engine Rooms: When the main engine room is not continuously manned, remote monitoring and control systems should be in place to enable real-time information about the engine room's status and prompt identification of any potential issues. 3️⃣ Competency and Qualifications: Personnel assigned to the engine room must possess the necessary competency, training, and qualifications according to flag state requirements and regulations. #OffshoreDrilling #MaritimeSafety #SOLASRegulations #Safety #HSE

In the world of offshore operations and engineering, precision and reliability are paramount. Last week, INCITIAS, successfully completed the Factory Acceptance Test (FAT) of two Mini Observational Class ROVs (Remote Operated Vehicles) for an upcoming offshore campaign in Southeast Asia. In the video, INCITIAS staff Bastiaan Scheepers and Nakhesh Singh are seen testing the equipment, here in Melbourne. The FAT encompassed a comprehensive array of tests, with a focus on ensuring these Mini ROVs can withstand the demanding conditions they will encounter during their use. The FAT Highlights: Pressure Testing o Both Mini ROVs were subjected to rigorous pressure testing, simulating depths of up to 300 meters. This test was crucial in verifying the structural integrity and resilience of the ROVs under high-pressure conditions. Torque Measurement o INCITIAS measured the available torque required to operate subsea valves. This data is essential for smooth and precise operation of critical equipment in the subsea environment. Custom Tools o Showcasing our original equipment ingenuity by designing and manufacturing custom tools in-house. These tools are specifically engineered to aid in the visual inspection of mooring lines, a vital aspect of offshore campaigns. Their successful completion of the Mini ROV FAT showcases INCITIAS capabilities and highlights Melbourne's effectiveness as a hub for cutting-edge engineering solutions. As we look forward to the upcoming offshore campaign in Southeast Asia, INCITIAS is pleased with this result and this example of our commitment to excellence and innovation. #INCITIAS #MiniROVs #EngineeringExcellence #OffshoreCampaign #SEAsia #FactoryAcceptanceTest #MelbourneEngineering https://lnkd.in/gVdGDPP9

𝐓𝐌𝐓 𝐓𝐨𝐨𝐥𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐓𝐫𝐢𝐯𝐢𝐚 – 𝐔𝐧𝐝𝐞𝐫𝐬𝐭𝐚𝐧𝐝𝐢𝐧𝐠 𝐒𝐮𝐛𝐬𝐞𝐚 𝐒𝐥𝐚𝐧𝐠 Did you know? A work class ROV is usually set up with a high strength arm such as a 5 function Rigmaster or a 7 function Atlas arm on the left and a 7 function Master servo-hydraulic controlled arm such as a Titan 4 or Conan on the right. As the ROV approaches the subsea structure the pilot will look for ROV grab bars, easily identified by their orange colour. The pilot will usually grab these with the left 5 function manipulator which helps to hold the ROV in position while the subsea task is completed. The Pilot or Tooling Technician is now able to concentrate on the subsea task using the Titan 4 master controlled 7 function arm which provides superior control. To assist, the Titan 4 is often fitted with a subsea camera with integral light mounted just above the wrist joint to assist with interfacing subsea tools with infrastructure. This could be inserting a hotstab into a receptacle, or a torque tool into a valve override actuator. Next discussion point in our tooling trivia series will be based around the language that we use when referencing ROV Intervention Tooling. Spoiler Alert: This will depend on where in the world your operations are located and or the nationality of the company / operator you are working for. #subsea #ICYMI #oilandgas #ROV

Line Maintenance vs Base Maintenance Which do you think demands more skill or experience? For Licensed Engineers, both line maintenance and base maintenance play crucial roles in ensuring aircraft safety and performance. Line Maintenance: Quick turnaround, problem-solving in real-time, fast-paced environment at the gate, often with tight schedules. Immediate results but high-pressure situations. Base Maintenance: Deeper inspections, overhauls, and repairs in a controlled environment. More time for detailed work but longer project timelines. Which do you prefer and why? Let me know your thoughts in the comment! #Aviation #LicensedEngineering #AircraftMaintenance
