On 25 March at 18:30 GMT, the Institute of Directors (IoD) will launch its new Natural Resources special interest group at the House of Lords, London.  Business leaders, government ministers, ambassadors, high commissioners, representatives of diplomatic missions to the UK, and members of the House of Lords will be in invite-only attendance. The event will encourage responsible harnessing of natural resources for the global energy transition and witness the first-ever signing of The Responsible Natural Resources Declaration by the attendees.  The event will include speeches from the Rt. Hon. Baroness Lindsay Northover, Vice Chair of the APPG on Critical Minerals, Nusrat Ghani MP, Minister of State for the Department of Business and Trade and the Investment Security Unit, and a pioneer for critical minerals policy for the UK.  The industry keynotes will feature Simon Moores, CEO of Benchmark Mineral Intelligence, and Richard Taylor, Chair of the IOD Natural Resources Special Interest Group (SIG). The Institute of Directors (IoD), the UK's leading body for professional directors, formed in 1903 and was granted a Royal Charter in 1906. Their Natural Resources SIG is a platform designed to facilitate communications between industry leaders, government officials, and peers in the natural resources sector. It aims to enable the sharing of best practices and to engage in constructive discussions about critical issues affecting the industry. By working together, the participants can take action to advance the energy transition.  This sector encompasses several crucial areas such as commodity metals, critical minerals, processing and mining, energy, water, fisheries, and agriculture. These areas are essential to the UK's economy and the global sustainable future. Commenting on the launch, the IOD's Natural Resources leadership team, Richard Taylor, Juan Cabrera, and Kruthika A. What is ULTFARMS? 🦑🍃 ULTFARMS is dedicated to optimizing the production of #LTA systems in challenging offshore conditions and low-salinity environments. By integrating innovative engineering, technical, ecological, and biological processes, the project aims to create a profitable, sustainable, and ecological production chain of low-trophic level species, such as seaweed and molluscs, within offshore wind farms (#OWF) in the #North Sea and #Baltic Sea. Project Leadership and Consortium 🤝 Led by Deltares, an independent institute for water and subsurface research based in the Netherlands, ULTFARMS is a 42-month project that began on January 1st, 2023, and will conclude on June 30th, 2026. Stomar is pleased to have collaborated with 11 other projects in the East and Northeast ScotWind regions to produce a report examining potential regional ornithological compensation measures that could be deployed at scale and contribute to the increased resilience of seabird populations in Scotland. This important study was carried out by RHDHV, Hi-Def Consulting and with input from Nima Consultants 👉 https://lnkd.in/d2EtFX-4 The report highlights the challenge the industry is facing in delivering offshore wind at scale under the current regulations. The developers are pleased the Scottish Government has launched its Joint Environmental Accelerator Project (JEAP) initiative and are keen to continue the proactive, collaborative work to ensure these projects deliver real environmental benefit as well as delivering net zero. The developers involved believe that significant focus on this issue is essential to delivering Scotland’s 2045 net zero targets and realising the wider benefits of ScotWind.
