What does trafficking look like in your community? (FYI, it's in every community) Well, this is what I may have identified in my own and what I did in response! After leaving the Fox5 ZipTrip in Fairfax City, I ran over to my local drug store, just a block from the center of Old Town Fairfax, to pick up a prescription where I noticed some business cards on the pharmacy counter advertising chat me or something similar via a scannable QR code. The cards were a quick homemade, cheap printout (in color) that just looked shady. I asked the pharmacy tech if she knew who set those out and she didn't. So, I decided to spread some #humantrafficking and #sexualexploitation awareness and shared that methods like this are how online exploitation can begin, as well as human trafficking. They were alarmed and quickly removed the cards. This is how awareness works and how you can make a difference in your own backyard. Now, I don't know 100% that this is what the creator of the cards was up to as I wasn't about to scan that code. But you just can't take the chance. Remember, if you see something, you need to say something! If it doesn't look or feel right, don't be afraid to act! #stophumantrafficking #traffickingawareness #know2protect #makeadifference

When Senator Ted Cruz inquired about child abuse material on Instagram, Meta offered two options: 1️⃣ Get resources 2️⃣ See results anyway How is it possible that in mere minutes, tech platforms can connect individuals with networks exploiting children online? This is deeply troubling, especially when reports reveal social media connecting pedophiles through covert code words. Tech companies bear a responsibility to protect children online and prevent child exploitation within their algorithms. Holding internet providers and platforms legally liable is crucial when they facilitate trafficking or exploitation processes. Let's prioritize the safety of our children online and demand accountability from tech companies.
