Aerospace leaders discussed the latest challenges, opportunities and developments in the industry at this week's U.S. Chamber of Commerce Global Aerospace Summit. Our Senior Director Melissa R. Price was onsite to hear first-hand from the civil, national security and commercial space sector experts. Here are a few of her takeaways: 🌎 Space "is a very unique place to solve problems here on Earth.” Deputy Administrator at NASA - National Aeronautics and Space Administration Pamela Melroy reminded the crowd that from space, you can see the whole picture of what’s happening on Earth. And in the environment of space, you can see things and solve problems that you can’t within Earth’s gravity. You can further scientific discovery and technological development, and most importantly, inspire people to dream bigger and do more to help us thrive here on Earth. 🏛 This is a new era for the space industry, especially in commercial spaceflight. Cooperation among civil, military and commercial entities is imperative for success. The near-term political challenges around the budget and FAA reauthorization are frustrating, and progress on legal and regulatory frameworks can be slow, but leaders remain optimistic about the future. 👩🏭 The #1 problem in the aerospace industry is finding enough skilled talent. RTX Chairman and CEO Gregory Hayes may have been the first to talk about this during the Summit, but he wasn’t the last. This need surfaced over and over again. Leaders talked about training and reskilling the current workforce and about internships and mentorships for the rising generation. We need to open more people’s eyes to what’s possible in the space industry. 🌐 “International cooperation is essential, not only because we are dealing with issues and questions that concern and benefit the whole of humanity, but also because no country alone has all the skills and resources required to tackle these challenges.” (well said, Nicolas) Nicolas Maubert from Centre National d'Études Spatiales, plus representatives from Agenzia Spaziale Italiana, Canadian Space Agency | Agence spatiale canadienne and ISRO - Indian Space Research Organization covered the importance of international partnership in achieving our ambitious space goals. 🛰 Innovation is thriving in the aerospace industry. New ideas, products and services were everywhere – from HawkEye 360’s satellite constellation that delivers RF data analytics and Starfish Space’s satellite servicing for life extension and disposal to Venus Aerospace’s super cool, supersonic flight systems. These companies and so many more are poised to successfully take us from low Earth orbit to the Moon and beyond. 🚀 #GlobalAerospaceSummit2023 #Aerospace

Polar ice caps are melting as global warming causes climate change. We lose Arctic sea ice at a rate of almost 13% per decade, and over the past 30 years, the oldest and thickest ice in the Arctic has declined by a stunning 95%. Both the International Panel on Climate Change (IPCC) and the US National Climate Assessment concluded that ice loss was the largest contributor to sea-level rise during the past few decades, and will contribute to rising sea levels for the century to come. Another contributor to sea-level rise is the increase in volume that occurs when water is heated, called thermal expansion. Both thermal expansion and ice melt are the results of the rise in global average temperatures on land and sea known as climate change.

Gravitational Waves have very little scientific value because it's just a result of perturbations in space, atmospheric air and ocean's water caused by moving/accelerating celestial bodies. It can't describe nor explain the real nature of Gravity. And we don't need a million-dollar Gravitational Wave Detectors such as LIGO to detect Gravitational Waves on Earth because Gravity is everywhere (not only in space), ubiquitous throughout the entire observable Universe. We can detect Gravitational Waves in the atmosphere and in the ocean's water using only our naked eyes, still/video cameras and seismometers or even microphones in the case of ocean gravitational waves generating sound energy.
