🔬 🍃💡 Did you know that our Smithsonian Science for Global Goals guides are available in other languages? Translation of our guides helps to make them easily customizable to reflect local communities’ needs, interests, and priorities, and drives young people to become action takers, collecting data in their own communities in order to better understand the world’s most pressing issues! Support for the Spanish translation of Energy!: How can we ensure sustainable energy for all? was generously provided through a grant from the Smithsonian Women's Committee. https://lnkd.in/e6MuXww2

🌳 As we continue to recognise and celebrate Earth Day this month, it's crucial to reflect on how academia can contribute to sustainable practices. In the pursuit of impactful, sustainable scholarship, collaboration across disciplines is essential, involving academics, policymakers, and implementers. Despite a growing emphasis on societal impact, many business academics face challenges in attaining recognition and resources for their efforts. As Usha Haley, Professor Sir Cary Cooper,CBE and Andrew Jack explain, by fostering relational solutions and embracing diverse stakeholder engagement, academia can enhance its role in addressing pressing societal and environmental challenges while promoting sustainable scholarship.⬇ Barton School of Business, Wichita State University, Alliance Manchester Business School, The University of Manchester, Financial Times, Matthew Wood #EFMDGlobalFocus #sustainability #responsibleresearch #societalimpact #businesseducation #Earthday2024

Diversity, equality, and inclusion are essential parts of sustainability. In this Q&A, DTU's new Dean for Sustainability and International Collaborations, Christine Nellemann, gives her take on the question: What can DTU improve on in this area? "DTU's task is to develop technology that suits all people, regardless of physical and mental prerequisites, gender, and ethnicity. Therefore, we must work towards a more diverse mindset and composition of employees and students. When we embrace diversity, it leads to better research, innovation, education, and advice. And thereby, we will develop more and better technology for people," says Christine Nellemann: "And because we have the students to remind us of a changing world constantly, we are in many ways well placed to be a modern university that is continuously developing." UNESCO article on the formation of the UNESCO-MOST BRIDGES Coalition, explaining the underpinning of BRIDGES as pioneering a “critical understanding of sustainability that emphasizes the diversity of its subjects, objects and timelines” studying “complex socio-ecosystems as a web of meanings and interactions, inherently multilayered and pluralistic. In doing so, it will be anchored in the humanities but designed to go beyond; it will be aimed at broadening sustainability science by bringing to multiple forms of knowledge, including traditional knowledge, while following an ethical approach to resource mobilization and use.” https://lnkd.in/e6KtAdM2 #sustainabilityscience #transdisciplinary #humanities #SDG17 #SDGs #sustainabledevelopment #socioecosystems #traditionalknowledge #socialtransformations

Deep Tech for Human Health & Performance ◆ Open Strategy-Execution ◆ Demand-Side Innovation ◆ Translational Research
The great (cold) war of #future generations will be between nations/ideologies/organizations that participate in #reciprocity of #scientific knowledge flow and those that are merely suction devices. What will the latter forsake? Dialectical #colearning and mutual development that is the essence of scientific #community and ultimately of science writ large.
