Exciting news from Rolls-Royce at the Eurosatory defense trade fair! They've unveiled a revolutionary hybrid diesel engine designed to make armored vehicles more efficient and stealthier. The new mtu Series 199 hybrid drive puts out over 1,100 kW (1,475 hp) and allows vehicles to run on battery power, reducing noise and heat signatures. This makes the vehicle much quieter and greatly reduces its heat signature, enhancing camouflage and mission range. Additionally, the hybrid engine improves fuel consumption and provides more electric power for future systems like energy weapons. At low speeds, the vehicle is quieter, especially with Rolls-Royce's new customized silencer. At higher speeds, the electric drive combined with the diesel boosts acceleration. Christian Wolf, Head of Development for Military Engines and Systems at Rolls-Royce Power Systems, states, "This propulsion concept will expand the operational possibilities of future tracked armored vehicles in a way that was previously hardly imaginable." Rolls-Royce continues to push the boundaries of military technology, promising a quieter, more efficient, and stealthier future for armored vehicles. StayTuned! The U.S. military, facing billions in spending on aircraft replacement parts and seeking to enhance efficiency and reduce costs, has partnered with startup Machina Labs to implement a groundbreaking robotic AI-driven technology at Robins Air Force Base in Georgia. Named the Robotic Craftsman, this technology utilizes AI for precision in shaping metal, coupled with robotic arms for assembly, drastically cutting down part replacement times and maintenance complexity. Highlighting the technology's affordability and reduced logistical footprint, it's anticipated to revolutionize parts manufacturing and potentially aid in the production of low-cost drones for the Pentagon's Replicator project. Moreover, its compact size could significantly streamline battlefield operations by bringing manufacturing closer to the front lines, mirroring successful strategies employed by other nations and adapting to the logistical challenges in regions like the Pacific. The next development phase aims to deploy a more rugged version directly into combat zones, promising a strategic advantage in rapid manufacturing and supply chain resilience. #usmilitary #airforce #roboticcraftsman #machinalabs #innovation #supplychain #defense #rapidmanufacturing #dronetechnology #battlefieldlogistics Source- https://lnkd.in/e2f9aMpT

US-based tech firm Anduril is teaming with a subsidiary of South Korean defense giant Hanwha to compete for the right to build the US Army’s Small Multipurpose Equipment Transport (S–MET) Increment II program, the companies announced today. The US firm will “serve as the prime contractor to deliver a modified, autonomy-ready Uncrewed Ground Vehicle (UGV) based on Hanwha’s proven Arion-SMET platform,” according to an Anduril press release. Forterra, formerly known as RRAI, will serve as a sub-tier supplier, bringing autonomous capabilities to the system. For Anduril, it’s a major play to grow its land systems portfolio. For Hanwha, it represents a potential breakthrough into US military programs through its US subsidiary Hanwha Defense USA, as the Korean firm makes an ongoing global push for military exports.
