As a proud Greek citizen, it pains me to write this, but I feel a deep sense of embarrassment and frustration over the recent implementation of the six-day workweek law in Greece. Starting from July 1, 2024, Greece has become the first country in the European Union to formally adopt a six-day workweek. While the government claims this move is intended to boost productivity and combat undeclared work, it feels like a significant step backwards for workers' rights and overall well-being. At a time when many countries across Europe are actively experimenting with and moving towards a four-day workweek, emphasizing work-life balance and mental health, Greece's adoption of a six-day workweek feels like a regression. Instead of progressing with innovative labor policies that prioritize the well-being of workers, we are unfortunately moving in the opposite direction.

If you want them to attend, consider making the party family friendly—or better yet, make the party during work hours.

I feel some people want to make LinkedIn a competition about who can be the most puritan - and, frankly, dull. This is why we can't have nice things. It's a 'promise' but this would not be the case for me, for one. I think it wouldn't be the case for the majority/the vast majority. Making parties family-friendly would hurt the enjoyment of many. By the same principle, even for weddings, ie wholesome family(ish)-orientated events, many people say no children and even when they are welcome many parents choose not to come with them (as with our wedding). I'd say this doesn't even apply to most parents, as they wouldn't work with their wife/husband/other parent, so they can simply have the kid(s). Even if the parents are separated, the other parent, step-parent, grandma, friend etc etc can have the kid(s). As a recent father myself, kids are amazing, but they are, needless to say, full on. The occasional night off (yes, with alcohol even) is part of a perfectly healthy balance for many working (and non-working) parents, especially if celebrating the organisation's achievements over the year with good colleagues and friends. #Work #Parenting #Kids #Children #OfficeParty #ChristmasParty #Colleagues #Hybrid #WFH #WorkFromHome
