Giving the Skydio X10D a good test of its IP rating during our flying in Waiouru today. Some strong wind and misty rain, but the X10D got the job done and made it home no problem. It looks like it is a genuine leap forward in capability compared to its predecessor. Looking forward to pushing it to its limits again tomorrow. #experimentation #learnbydoing

When innovation meets expansion, it’s a powerhouse combination for how Dominion Energy leverages drone technology. From expanding their program within transmission substations to in-depth testing in both solar and critical substations to rapid installation (three sites in just four weeks!), their work is far from done. The next step is already in the works to deploy 15 Skydio dock solutions. Dominion is raising the bar in pursuit of delivering safe, reliable, and affordable electricity to their customers, quickly adopting and implementing drone solutions across critical use cases like asset inspection, emergency response, feeder inspection, and security patrol. Their leadership and remarkable innovation, like the vision to replicate their success across thousands of solar farms, leaves no doubt why Dominion Energy was nominated for the 𝗦𝗸𝘆𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗔𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀. Great to see New York City Police Department using drones to proactively help keep teens’ poor decisions from becoming life-altering ones. These acts have been historically difficult to mitigate but since introducing drones for overwatch, NYPD Transit has seen a decrease in related injuries and an increase in the effective intervention of would-be juvenile subway surfers by an order of magnitude. Not only that, but they now have videos like these to educate the community about the hazards and further deter this dangerous activity.

Quick thinking turned a drone training into a real-life search and rescue. Alerted to a hiker who collapsed from a heart attack in a state park where the 𝗔𝗻𝗱𝗲𝗿𝘀𝗼𝗻 𝗣𝗼𝗹𝗶𝗰𝗲 𝗗𝗲𝗽𝗮𝗿𝘁𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 (𝗔𝗣𝗗) was training, officers jumped into action deploying a drone to help monitor and guide emergency medical services to the scene within minutes. This heroic use of a drone proved how this technology can save lives and earned APD a nomination for the 𝗦𝗸𝘆𝗱𝗶𝗼 𝗔𝗲𝗿𝗶𝗮𝗹 𝗔𝗰𝗵𝗶𝗲𝘃𝗲𝗺𝗲𝗻𝘁 𝗔𝘄𝗮𝗿𝗱𝘀.
