🚀 France's post office to swap letters for food deliveries: With less and less people sending each other letters, France's post office is looking to evolve into a premium meals-on-wheels service. "I think food deliveries will be the top activity for postal workers" by 2035, said Philippe Wahl, the head of La Poste Groupe. As for letter and parcel deliveries, they are projected to have dropped from 70 percent of business in 1990 to just 15 percent by the end of 2024. Working with community centres, hospitals and caterers, its drivers bring mostly elderly people more than 15,000 meals per day, Wahl said. Increase this and you might keep France's 65,00 postmen and women employed "even when there are no more letters", he added. La Poste delivered 5 million meals last year and hopes to double that figure for 2024, he said. It is only the latest idea as the French post office seeks to move with the times. #fooddelivery #ecommerce #france Source: France 24 France's post office to scrap letters for food deliveries

Workers making deliveries for food-delivery platforms in Southern Europe face health hazards in sweltering conditions during the lunchtime rush. Despite recommendations to reduce or cease work during extreme heat, platform companies, which classify couriers as independent contractors, have varying measures in place, raising concerns about worker well-being and labor protections. https://lnkd.in/gJmAM98j #HeatWaveHazards #FoodDeliveryWorkers #ExtremeHeat #LaborProtections #WorkerWellbeing

While Mr. Teo's story of earning over S$8,000 in a month as a food delivery rider is undeniably impressive, let's not overlook the bigger picture here. Yes, his perseverance is admirable, but it's time we address the elephant in the room: the gig economy's systemic exploitation of workers. Sure, Mr. Teo's success is a testament to his hard work, but it shouldn't distract us from the fact that many gig workers are struggling to make ends meet, working grueling hours for meager pay and minimal benefits. His story shouldn't be celebrated as a norm but rather viewed as a stark reminder of the inequalities within our society. It's high time we advocate for fair wages, job security, and better working conditions for all gig workers. Let's not allow one success story to overshadow the urgent need for systemic change. #FairWages #GigEconomy #IncomeInequality 💰

The announcement of the added public holiday has sparked a debate about whether or not the public holiday declared to celebrate the victory of the Springboks at the RWC was a good or bad thing for SMEs. On the one hand, the public holiday could enable SMEs to increase their sales through an influx of customers. But it could also adversely affect these businesses by forcing them to pay extra to their staff who work that day or close their operations altogether. What do you think, good or bad? Let us know! #PublicHolidayDebate #SpringboksVictory #SMEs #BusinessImpact #SalesBoost #StaffCosts #SmallBusinesses #HolidayPay #BusinessOperations

For Sunday here is my PSA for world travellers. This darn tipping thing is driving everyone nuts. I spend most of my time in USA where this gotten out of hand. Originally tipping increased due to bad bosses not paying enough. Now with a more egalitarian employment world, workers wages have increased proportionally - not enough - but somewhat. Anyway here is a guide. https://lnkd.in/gmYWBTQa
How much should you tip in Europe? Here’s our guide
