It somehow feels wrong to write about something that I don’t fully understand myself. But somehow it also feels wrong to write about the crises of the world without mentioning the Middle East conflict and the people suffering there. My take on this is to give you two suggestions for the day: 💡 Read or listen to something that educates you on what is going on right now. Today, I chose the Daily: https://lnkd.in/dfQv5n9n 💜 Make a donation to an organization or a scheme that you believe do make a difference. I chose this: https://lnkd.in/dNsPB2yK I think a part of this problem, at least for me, is that it’s impossible to read about what’s going out with without losing faith in humanity. But I also notice that if I do something that might contribue at the same time, like donating money, it makes me feel a bit less hopeless.

In a world where information travels at lightning speed, it’s easy for critical issues to be lost in the noise. This is especially true for the plight of Muslims in regions like East Turkestan, Palestine, and Kashmir, where their struggles often go unnoticed or unaddressed. Recognizing this gap, I took the initiative to start the Global Muslim Advocacy Foundation, a non-profit organization dedicated solely to raising awareness about these pressing issues without soliciting donations. #Advocacy #HumanRights #GlobalMuslimAdvocacy #Peace #Equality #Justice #Solidarity #gmaf

Today, we honor Juneteenth, a day that marks the end of slavery in the United States and celebrates freedom, resilience, and the ongoing fight for equality. Juneteenth, observed on June 19th, 1865, is a powerful reminder of the strength and determination within marginalized communities. Our Afghan community understands the importance of this day, coming forth as a community that shares a rich history of resilience and a quest for freedom. Highlighting events like Juneteenth is crucial as it reminds us of the progress we have made and the work that still lies ahead. By spotlighting these significant moments in history, we recognize the injustices that have been overcome and those that persist today. It is a call to action for continued solidarity, understanding, and advocacy. As we celebrate Juneteenth, we encourage reflection on the importance of supporting and uplifting all marginalized communities,. Our collective commitment to justice and equality paves the way for a more inclusive and compassionate society. Together, we can ensure that every individual, regardless of their background, has the opportunity to live freely and with dignity. With love, AOA #Juneteenth #FreedomDay #Resilience #AfghanRefugees #CommunitySupport #CulturalHeritage #Solidarity #JusticeForAll #Unity #Nonprofits #OregonNonprofit

Co-creates Speak Up Cultures | Co-Founder Speaking Up Network | Senior Consultant People Smart | Founding Consultant Team Innovate Global | Ambassador Centre for Global Inclusion
A reminder that feminism discourse needs to be intersectional and should move away from the white women only gaze. While we have seen a number of well known western feminists speak up about alleged rapes by Hamas on Oct 7, we have not seen them speak up about the UN documented sexual violence by IDF towards Palestinian women and girls (let alone genocide and land grab!). If we are speaking up on violence against women, it has to be all women. As a Muslim who is partly Asian, I am really disappointed (though not surprised) at the overwhelming silence of my white sisters. This session tomorrow/today (Thursday, 29 Feb) is a discussion on confronting how gender-based violence (GBV) is weaponized by Israel to justify violence against Palestinians. They will also analyze the deeply entrenched issues within white "feminist" discourse and frameworks that perpetuate the problematic framing of GBV against Black, Brown, and Indigenous women/girls. The panelists will courageously expose the detrimental consequences of such narratives, igniting a call to action for justice and accountability.
Join Global Development for Palestine for an honest discussion about the western discourse that perpetuates the problematic framing of GBV against Pales.inian women, girls, and LGBTQIA+ individuals. This panel is 🔥🔥🔥 centering the voices of Pales.tinian and Arab women, exposing the detrimental consequences of such narratives, igniting a call to action for justice and accountability. Thursday February 29th, 4pm Palestine time. The event is free to attend, with an option to donate to causes chosen by the speakers. This Human Rights Day, join us in our fight for Freedom and Safety as we tackle Gender-Based Violence (GBV) prevention in South Africa. GBV is a clear and pervasive human rights violation. Despite SA’s constitution being hailed as one of the most progressive in the world, the country has grappled with alarming rates of rape, GBV and rampant violent crimes against children. We at Father A Nation are of the strong belief that no boy is born an abuser; something goes wrong in their journey from boy to man and that's what we need to fix. In line with Pillar 2 of the National Strategic Plan on GBV, we have been working with boys and men across South Africa since 2010, teaching and inspiring them to live with positive, healthy masculinity and to stand against abuse of any kind. Our interventions have directly impacted over 300,000 men and their families, breaking the cycle of abuse so that future generations can live in a safe and prosperous society. This Human Rights Month you can partner with us in this mission by contributing through donations, or by contacting us directly at [email protected] to put together a programme best suited to your organisation’s needs. Let our generation be the one that creates long-lasting change for the rights of future South Africans! 🇿🇦🙌 If you would like to make a donation, visit our forgood profile at https://lnkd.in/dqxmbWrY #humanrights #genderbasedviolence #positivemasculinity #nonprofitleadership #GBV

History of Grampian Women’s Aid We were established in 1977 inspired by the women’s liberation movement in a period where activists collectively recognised that there was a need to provide support and safe refuge to women experiencing domestic abuse. Initially, our focus was on women’s experiences, but as the organisation evolved our focus included children and young people. Our organisation was built by pioneering women volunteers on donations alone. Built upon these grassroots feminist principles, we have expanded year after year whilst maintaining these feminist values. We are funded through a variety of funders including the Scottish Government, Aberdeenshire Council, the Robertson Trust and donations to allow us to provide the best service we can for women, children, and young people experiencing domestic abuse. We work within a framework of recognising the gendered nature of domestic abuse and violence against women, which is routed in gender inequality. We believe that all women, children and young people have the right to live free from abuse. The development of our service provision over the last 40 plus years has been guided by the women, children, and young people that we have supported. They have been our inspiration. We offers free advice, confidential and non-judgemental, specialist service to women, children and young people in Aberdeen and Aberdeenshire who have experienced domestic abuse. We are affiliated with Scottish Women's Aid. #womenshistorymonth #enddomesticabuse #aberdeenshire #aberdeen #domesticabuse

Did you know that before colonization, 2S people were revered for embodying both male and female spirits, serving as healers and visionaries in their communities? However, colonization introduced harmful norms and eroded their societal roles. Despite these challenges, 2S individuals are reclaiming their cultural identities and restoring their place in society. It's vital to recognize and amplify their voices, respecting the diversity and specificity of Indigenous traditions and identities. Atira is committed to supporting Indigenous and non-binary communities, if you would like to join us on our mission please consider donating to our cause: https://lnkd.in/gDjsybWM #TwoSpirit #ColonizationEffects #CulturalIdentity #RespectDiversity #IndigenousTraditions #NonBinary #SupportCommunities #AtiraMission #DonateNow #EmpowerVoices #RestoreRoles #HealersAndVisionaries #ReclaimIdentity #SpecificIdentities #InclusiveSpaces #CommunitySupport #EmpowermentJourney #HealingPower #WaysToHelp #AtiraBC #RespectingHeritage #VisibilityMatters #CulturalHeritage #CommunityUnityDi

Empowering Growth and Generosity | Donor Relations Officer | Lead Generator & Content Manager @ Ashraful Aid | Supporting People In Their Social & Professional Development through Effective Communication
While government initiatives are crucial in shaping a society that values kindness, peace, and social progress, it is through our individual actions that these principles truly come to life. By embodying these values, we each contribute to a culture of equality and enrich the social fabric of our communities. Our commitment to these ideals must extend beyond policy into the realm of personal responsibility, where every act of generosity and understanding can ignite change and foster unity. To see this principle in action, look no further than the inspiring work being done through Ashraful Aid. Their efforts remind us that our compassion and charity are powerful forces for social development and the affirmation of equal rights for all to live with dignity and joy. Let's take inspiration from such movements and strive to be the change we wish to see in the world. #SocialDevelopment #SDG #Education #Goodhealth #Equality #Charity #Peace #Unity https://lnkd.in/e6FpGMMK

Chief Executive @Safer Communities Alliance CIC | Infrastructure Support - Community Engagement- Early Interventions.
Talking to NHS staff, the implementation of DEI initiatives such as displaying religious celebration posters, rainbow lanyards, and flags can be or seen as tokenistic by staff and beneficiaries, if they are not backed by genuine efforts to address deeper issues related to diversity and inclusion. Tokenism or doing something rather than nothing occurs when superficial gestures are used to create the appearance of inclusivity without addressing systemic or genuine concerns. To avoid tokenism, organisations as a whole should focus on actively creating inclusive policies, promoting diversity at all levels, and fostering a culture of genuine respect and equality, rather than relying solely on symbolic gestures. The key is to ensure that these initiatives are part of a broader and more meaningful DEI strategy. #DEIKent #DEISCA #DEIInfrastructuresupportKent #DEIVCSEKENT If you want help to do this contact us. https://lnkd.in/enp8TvZD
