A Decent Recruiter To Follow. Recruiting Is No Joke Podcast Host

When you've sourced 300 candidates, Screened 20 candidates, interviewed 10, and presented 3 amazing candidates and the hiring manager says: "We really do appreciate all your effort, But the search is on hold... The CEO wants to go in another direction." 10 minutes later the Recruiter around the back of the building: #recruiterlife

Imagine sending 300 cv , getting 10 interviews, being on the last round for 2 , and after looking at your bank account melting away listening to that BS

I get it....but let's not forget about the 10 who made it through a field of 300 competitors (3%-ish) or the three that made it even further (top 30% of the finalists) only to be told "Nope....not today...maybe another time". Not your fault....in any way shape or form....at the same time please remember under these circumstances, you're not the only one heavily worked, dismissed and heavily disappointed. Been there more than a few times myself....:)

What is worse, being the recruiter or on of the candidates? 🤔

Don't lose site of the Candidate's experience in that scenario - of the 20 interviewed and 3 presented - did the recruiter keep them informed a long the way? In most cases in these times - that answer would be no. Follow up happens to all parties - and all parties put in the work. A different direction from a client is disappointing, but it is equally as disappointing when the recruiter doesnt respond or follow up with the candidate.

Couple of thoughts- Maybe 5 years ago, double those numbers to get to 3 submittals. Second thought, you forgot how this story would end, not with the CEO putting the order on hold, it would end like this- "Then, finally, your superiors want to have " deep dive with you, " break down how you spend your time, talk about how you can do it better, or be more efficient, because you didn't fill that job."

That's why we utilize AI recruiting assistants to take the first and hardest hits in the process, while emotionally preparing for this type of situation 😩
