On #WomeninEngineeringDay, we’re highlighting a project where women are leading the way. Set to open in 2023, the new international terminal at the Kansas City Airport is the single, largest infrastructure project in the region’s history. Once complete, the one-million-square-foot, state-of-the-art travel hub will modernize and enhance the travel experience in and out of Kansas City through accessible and inclusive design. The project is led by several women in leadership—with over 60% of the architecture, engineering, and construction team made up of women. Hear from SOM’s Associate Principal Alexandra Thewis, who is leading the structural engineering team, about the project and what it was like working with the team: #INEWED2022 #structuralengineering #airports #airportdesign #womenindesign #womeninengineering #kansascity
