Dear CA Student Community, Congratulations to all those of you having cleared your exams. Have a quality time spent with family and friends, for all the sacrifices you did have borne fruits today. And for those who could not cross over the bridge, I'm with you in this journey too. Getting things straight, I would like to share a guide on how to get the certified copies of your answer scripts from ICAI. There are 2 modes of obtaining the same. One is to apply directly from ICAI through icaiexam.icai.org during the window that opens up today at 11 AM. It involves a relatively higher fee extending up to Rs. 2,000 and applicable convenience fees for Net-banking/Debit/Credit Cards. The student has to furnish the details of Registration, Name, Roll No. and Subjects for which the copies are required After review of the details, select confirm and make the payment The 2nd route is through the RTI Act, 2005. For this, visit the website rtionline.gov.in and navigate to the submit request section. Over there, select the check box confirming understanding of guidelines; then, select the ministry as MCA (Corporate Affairs) and the public authority as ICAI. Later populate necessary details like Name, Email, Contact No., Address etc. Finally in the text for RTI column, draft a requisition to the Central Public Information Office of ICAI seeking the papers for which you require the certified copies In the upload supporting documents section, upload a copy of "SELF ATTESTED ADMIT CARD", meaning a print out of the Admit Card signed by the student to confirm identity and proof of taking exams. After this, save the form and make payment of prescribed fees of Rs. 10/- Finally, I conclude by saying that the journey is not yet over. At the end of the tunnel, there exists a beacon of light. The biggest obstacle to becoming an accountant is not the long hour! A survey by the Illinois CPA Society (ICPAS) found that the main barrier to becoming an accountant is the overwhelming time needed to study for the CPA exam while working. 43% of respondents said work or personal commitments are why they do not pursue the CPA. They simply do not have enough time for their careers, families, and exam prep. This would not surprise anyone who has experienced the busy season in public accounting. The Lone Crusaders: Navigating the Chartered Accountancy Journey as a First-Generation Student In the demanding arena of the Chartered Accountancy course, family’s support can make a significant difference. For those fortunate enough to come from a lineage of chartered accountants, a network of guidance awaits within the very walls of home. This was the experience for many, including myself, as I prepared for my CA journey with my Chartered Accountant sister right at home and a plethora of Chartered Accountant close relatives. But in the course of my interaction with my students all these years, I have realised that the narrative shifts dramatically for the first-generation CA students, embarking on this rigorous journey without the luxury of this familial guidance. If you’re reading this and if you’re a first generation CA student, I extend my utmost respect to you and I salute you. Because your pursuit is a solitary one, your family members are often unable to fathom the complexities of CA preparation, your struggle is a different kind of a struggle all together. ‘Which college are you doing CA from?’, ‘You were a topper in school. Now you can’t get a 40 in an exam?’, ‘What big loss will occur if you miss one class?’ you just don’t have answers to their questions anymore. You’re fighting your battles all alone, and your path feels daunting to you at times. But know that you are doing something commendable. You are breaking barriers and forging new paths. And this is never easy. Despite how tedious it gets, I urge you to keep pushing, to give your best, because your triumph in this course will not be merely your personal achievement. It will not just improve your life and that of your immediate family; you are altering the trajectory for generations to come. Your resilience, determination, and commitment will inspire future generations within your own family and beyond. You are creating a legacy that will shape the future and open doors for others to follow. The Chartered Accountancy journey is both demanding and rewarding. Today on account of “CA Day”, I thought of making my next post more personalized. ⭐️I became a CA during the Pandemic.⭐️ While I prepared for my Final attempt, the Pandemic was already ongoing. There came 3 exam postponements and after a long wait, there finally came an announcement that the exam was cancelled. I remember that day feeling like I lost more than a year just sitting in my room waiting for an Exam Date. Indeed, the Pandemic was difficult for so many people in different ways. Millions lost their livelihoods and we must only thank God that these exam safety measures were in the interest of our health. But as students who were just waiting to reach the finish line, it indeed felt like a huge test of perseverance and not just a test of knowledge at that point. It was no more just about passing an exam. It was also about juggling multiple uncertainties. ⭐️The exam dates eventually came and the story obviously had a sweet ending as just one day before my birthday, came the CA Final Results Day and I successfully qualified as a Chartered Accountant that day.⭐️ Trust me, my friends, when I cleared the exam, more than feeling happy, I felt confident. Happiness comes from when things go your way. But confidence comes from when things don’t go exactly as planned but you somehow manage to keep yourself up and face the challenge with whatever you’ve got. 💫 Likewise, every CA has their own unique story with their own share of challenges, highs, lows, set-backs & come-backs. Today, holding this prefix of Chartered Accountant, through our varied journeys, we all stand united in a Community of members passionate about a Common Discipline.💫 Let’s vow to not just work with numbers but also bring magic to it.
