It’s hard to believe it’s almost been a year since I started this amazing job back in June. Initially, taking the leap was nerve-wracking, considering the distance from my hometown, family, and friends. Yet, it’s undoubtedly been one of the best decisions I’ve ever made. I’ve been fortunate to join a team with exceptional leadership and an unwavering commitment to excellence and I’m thankful Tommy Wood and Jarrett Darmstatter took a chance on me. I’ve always enjoyed challenging myself with trying to become comfortable with the uncomfortable or the “Grind” as many as my former college wrestling teammates would refer to it. The knowledge and skills I’ve acquired have surpassed my expectations, from basic operating room protocols to detailed product features. I recall when I was first diving into this role, my main worries revolved around the longest screw in our caddies and figuring out which color coordinated with each size. What excites me most is the continual opportunity for growth and learning. There’s still much ground to cover, from developing existing relationships to expanding my expertise in surgical procedures and product knowledge. Hustle and patience are key in this field, traits I’ve come to value deeply. I’m truly thankful for the opportunity to engage in this role daily, striving for personal growth while delivering top-notch services to our customers. I couldn’t imagine embarking on this journey with anyone other than Jarrett Darmstatter, Sione Tupou, and Brendan Keady. Within the community of Smith+Nephew’s culture, there’s a prevailing notion: pressure is a privilege. I’m confident that my team and I not only embrace but embody this pressure, driving us towards excellence. While my career has just begun there are three key takeaways I have found to be some of the most important so far. 1.) The importance of surrounding oneself with a supportive team and network. 2.) Treat others how you would want to be treated…being respectful and considerate goes a long way. 3.) Developing resilience and learning to take constructive criticism in stride are essential for personal and professional growth. It’s all part of the journey towards success in this dynamic industry.

I think the biggest key to success is surrounding yourself with people who inspire you. Last night I was in a room full of people that inspire me every day to be better not only for myself, but for my clients. This past year with New York Life has developed my professionalism in ways I never imagined, and I can’t wait to see what my team and I accomplish in 2024. RED Friday... Remember Everyone Deployed Friday... Well today I wanted to talk about something that a buddy did that kicked me "right in the feels". Please watch the below video by a great hero, father, and friend... Why is this RED? Because when we say "Remember Everyone Deployed" we do mean, those that are currently in service, who are in harms way. Those who are deployed to protect our way of life, represent our ideals and our nation. But, it isn't "JUST" that... For everyone who has deployed, the second part is coming home. The impact to the family, to the individual is real. So many of us who spent time deployed over the last 20+ years... many have moved onto something new. A new deployment of that experienced and capable Veteran. But the do not do it alone... none of us do. So this RED Friday, consider finding someone who is on that "redeployment" either recent, or still working on it from years ago... put your arms around them and help. Mentoring is such a rewarding experience, you are giving some very small part of who you are, to someone else with no expectation of return. It lifts your soul... and along the way, you make some amazing friends like I did. Florent Groberg, love you like a brother man, you know that you and your family are an extension of me and my family. I am proud of all that you have done, and excited to see all that is in front of you still to do. Like I always strived to do, you have also impacted so many in their journey. Never stop... We, brothers and sisters of service... we serve mission, country, God, our families, and each other. Remember Everyone Deployed... Today, yesterday, and tomorrow. #veterans #REDfriday #Service #Mentorship #Army #Marines #Airforce #Navy #deployed #mentoring #mentor #smallbusiness Hypori Intelligent Waves Warriors Ethos https://lnkd.in/g-vSgYgk
I'm grateful to be the Director of Heroes Linked and produce short videos like these and connect with extraordinary folks like Medal of Honor recipient, Florent Groberg. In a world that still foolishly quantifies likes, comments and shares, it's reassuring knowing that some folks will choose to act, even at the cost of their own well-being or life, under the most challenging, dangerous, demanding and difficult circumstances for no other reason than to do what's right. Thank you Flo, thank you for being everything you are, and making our world better.

Is your company celebrating heroes? Is it admiring the individuals who jump into the fire with courage to save the day? Does the term "extra mile" pop up from time to time? And, on the other hand - is it (equally) admiring the teams that routinely deliver high quality work? Does it find ways to celebrate consistency, clarity, and other not-so-flashy good practices? Find this topic and more in this week's issue: https://lnkd.in/dc57sinH
