𝙒𝙖𝙡𝙠𝙞𝙣𝙜 𝙙𝙤𝙬𝙣 𝙢𝙚𝙢𝙤𝙧𝙮 𝙡𝙖𝙣𝙚... Jobs I have done and lessons learned that you will not find on my CV, but have influenced my life positively. 📍Bartender (at a restaurant) ▪️Lesson learned: Listen more than you speak and the importance of confidentiality. 📍Farm Assistant (at my dad’s farm) ▪️Lesson learned: Hard work will not kill you. Even animals deserve to be treated with respect. 📍Hotel Manager (at a family-owned hotel) ▪️Lesson learned: Customer is king, give them a memorable experience that keeps them coming back. 📍Livestock Farmer (my mini farm) ▪️Lesson learned: Embrace failure, it’s part of the process. 📍Data Entry Assistant (at a brewery) ▪️Lesson learned: Having a skill is not enough you have to learn the business of that skill. 📍Procurement Officer (at my dad’s company) ▪️Lesson learned: As a business owner, you have to be involved in the process Sometimes doing tasks that are ‘beneath you’. 📍Personal Shopper ▪️Lesson learned: Your business is not about you give the customers what they want. This is a reminder that at every stage you find yourself, there are lessons to be learned. PS: Are you teachable? Have a lovely week ahead. Meeting me for the first time? Care to share any lessons learned that have stuck with you and bailed you out along the way?
The first role sent me an imagination of you being a bartender, Simi Abok Your work history is rich and the lessons learnt cut across industries.
So much lessons here! This reminds me of so many things and lessons I have neglected. Even in the littlest job, there are great lessons to be learnt. "Hard work will not kill you" I love this so much Simi Abok
Thanks for sharing
We are shaped by all our experiences. The first job I had and held for a long time (from age 10-20) was sales manager in my father’s shop. You won’t find it in my CV but I can tell you that job built me into the resilient person I am today.
Oh my Simi Abok you have a lot going on for you I’m somewhat similar, juggling different roles from time to time. And btw I love female bartenders
It's inspiring how you've embraced each experience with humility and openness to learning
These are beautiful lessons, I have also learned from them. It also reminds me of one important lesson I learnt, which is to be fun and be ready to infuse humour while dealing with people, I learnt this while working as a POS attendant and it made my work easy, it lightens up the person and creates a good connection. Have a wonderful week ahead Simi Abok
There is so much we learn along the way in jobs that will help us in the future!
